I sure would hope not. No need to get worked up just because people disagree with you. Nobody here is expecting to change your mind. We're just voicing our opinions; same as you.
You asked if other peolple felt as you do, I do not and explained why. If you have a hard time with the T62, youre gonna be in trouble with the 55A
The 115mm was made obsolete by better ammo in the T-55.
The armor wasn't better than the T-55.
The case ejection system was a hazard.
The turret and tank were super cramped.
The fire control was no better than the T-55.
The T-62 was much more expensive than the T-55.
Again this is an example of what happens when you Game Thunder things.
Exxxxactly. Upgrades to other tanks, the march of time, made it totally pointless.
But Game Thunder doesn't do enough to portray things in their proper balance ("Battle Rating" doesn't work, sorry.), or anything at all to show them at different times in history.
The fact is that for a *very* short period of time, when the T-62 was the only thing on the "battlefield" with APFSDS ammo, it was most definitely the nightmare terror of western nations. Basically it had the relatively good armor of the T-55, which wasn't that unique since western tanks had similar protection against APDS and HEAT rounds then in use, but now it also had a laser cannon of death that could blast right through your armor...And that was scary...
Upgrades to the 105mm L7 / M68 armed tanks in the west (Mostly APFSDS ammo, also I think some armor add-ons) rapidly made the T-62 less scary. Now everybody had the laser cannon of death, fire control was more important, and NATO had better fire control.
The Chieftain got it's own APFSDS ammo, plus at some point the "Stillbrew" armor package.
But the problem is that T-62 players probably aren't ever granted a match representative of that time frame where their tank was actually king.
It's just like T-34/76 players never get to have a match where their primary enemy are Panzer 3B/E/F, Panzer IV D/E/F1 without much or any HEAT, StuG-3A without much or any HEAT, and Panzer 38ts. The German players on the other hand don't get to have the advantage of commander's cupolas and radios.
Tiger I players never get to have a match where the biggest things they face are T-34/76, KV-1/76, Sherman 75s, M10s, BT-7, Crusaders, Matildas, M3 Light/Medium, etc. But for almost two years that's all there was available to go up against the Tiger, there just weren't many Tigers, but boy did it get quite a reputation during that time, didn't it? That's probably why in War Thunder the tanks at it's BR from other tech trees are from 2 years later.
M3 Grant/Lee players, similarly, never get to have matches that put them up against an enemy of Panzer III Ausf.E/F/J, Panzer IV Ausf.D/E/F1, and a tiny little rare smattering of IVF2 "Specials"...But for a time in the Western Desert campaign the Grants and Lees, as much as they get ignored and as much as we like to **** all over them now, were a total shock on the battlefield to the Germans. Instead, they have to go up against an army of Panzer III J1/L/M with add-on armor, Panzer IVE/F1 stacked deep with HEAT, and StuGs and IVF2 with some pretty honking big guns.
And, yes, those vehicles are why the M3 Grant/Lee became obsolete, but they weren't there waiting to club it the day it went to war!
When I went through the Chinese tree and got the Type 59 and Type 69 (Chinese T55) They use the same 100mm heatfs that T55 does, and I was and continue to 1 shot most tanks frontally with said HEATFS round. And i'm assuming that Gaijin gave the 115mm heatfs similar performance of the 100mm heatfs.
Yeah I noticed that too, there is something off about the APFSDS of this tank compared to other nations, it often just doesnt do what you would expect with others post-pen.
It`s not a bad tank but this combined with simplistic armor that is very vulnerable to all kind of ammo is what makes it somehow lacking.
Good thing I grinded the Object 279, T-62 has mostly been backup after that.
