EDIT: checking the last economy update looks quite intentional to me:
https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/484450-planned-changes-to-the-research-trees-and-economy/
in most cases repair cost is based on an algorithm, gaijin have an expected average income per match for vehicles at each tier and they increase and decrease repair costs based on that vehicles average income over the last period to what it would have needed to be to meet that expected average
now that isnt without problems obviously, if a vehicle isnt used much and only by a small number of skilled players its repair cost is going to go through the roof preventing less skilled players from realistically using it without losing a lot of lions, so people being risk averse they dont and without the less skilled players using it its repair cost doesnt come down or even continues to rise
this is how its been for years though and for the most part its fine so i really dont expect anything to change
Anyway, I'm convinced this is a typo or mistake of some kind. Top tier jets do not even come close to the repair cost of the J21A-2. To illustrate this, the F-4C and F-4E Phantom's have a repair cost of roughly 10,000 - 13,000 Silver Lions. Now, one must ask themselves, does the repair costs of two modern jet fighters equate to one World War II propeller plane? This is in AB, of course.
Whether or not this changes, I simply find it interesting that such numbers were given to the J21A-2 and wish to share the information.
as i said previously look at the shinden, both ta152s etc, these repair costs have existed in a select few aircraft for years and the j21 isnt close to the worst, to update my earlier statement the worst fighter i could find in tier 4 at a glance was the ta152h1 which doubles what you are complaining about in the j21 topping out fully spaded at more than 40k. this is because not many use it and those that do are apparently good enough to make buckets of lions so it gets an astronomical repair cost to compensate
