and there used to be even more
the reason they've reduced their frequency is because they are by far the worst kind of battles to play. up till rank VI, half the tanks won't get NV, so you will see almost no night battles
after rank VI, half the players have thermal vision, so when you do get night battles, you are simply crushed by rush-players with thermals
Sadly, they do exist.
I think it`s beyond stupid and unfair towards people who didnt buy their way into 9.0 but it`s Gaijin so they dont care as usual.
There's usually a mixture of NV & thermal sight equipped tanks - and it's not even close to a fair fight. Thermal sights offer an overwhelming advantage over light intensification NV sights.
It's so imbalanced that the vast majority of LINV players J-out immediately; and I for one do not blame them at all. In fact, I'd rather they J-out then for me to shoot them using my thermal sights. Worse than shooting fish in a barrel imo.
But here i remain, the last WT player who likes night battles. Really wish they had more battles in weather conditions besides bright and sunny at noon 98% of the time. Its pleasant sitting in the rain hearing the pitter patter against your tank. Shame 99% of who plays seems to be 95 years old with brightness turned to 0
And face the CV 90 105 which has Thermal vision for binoculars cuz reasons you can either
- get x-rayed
- use ULQ to even out the Thermal imbalance
any obscurants over the battlefield give an unfair advantage to ULQ players who don't simulate haze / lens flares/ or rain.
IMO the only good place to play when its raining or foggy is in CQC, which I absolutely hate
