All the SM.79s bar the export Romanian one are basically the same plane. Nothing drastic changes between them really.

Then why include it at all? Just two have two of the same fighters every mission?

OS2U-3 has self-sealing fuel tanks. That increases its survivability under fire by a bit and lowers chances of fires when getting hit.

These planes were added in 2012, and unlike the War Thunder you see today, the game back then was much closer to its roots in aircraft simulation and historical authenticity.

Some tank-hick coming in from World of Tanks might not care much for the historical detail added by having every SM.79 variant from the Spanish Civil War to the Italian Armistice, but it is kind of pretty important to not see time-travellers around when you aim for a believable experience.

Then the big money came in and Gaijin forgot all about that, so if you started playing the game only post 1.29, you'd be really surprised why there are so many SM.79's or SB-2's in the game.

Ok, but they could've just made it a skin instead of a full 4K research vehicle...

in Air arcade you can spawn more than once. In ground RB too.

You can spawn every plane in your lineup in air arcade mode, so you could put all the SM.79s in your lineup and spawn them one after another.

4K RP is absolutely nothing, that's achievable in one or maybe two games at most. Most of these planes nowadays are foldered together so you don't have to research all of them.

Some can carry torps which will be interesting when Italian Navy arrives. :D

I can’t wait for the P.108s with 3 torp spread :winter2019joyfultearsyul:

For the OS2Us, the -3 has a different engine (same horsepower) and irl had mounting rack options for depth charges, which we don’t currently have as aircraft loadout options.
