F104 in 9.7 Is literally seal clubbing.

the f104 diving on anything in 9.7 except itself is literally like a guy going to the arctic circle and running up to defenseless slow baby seal that cant get away
and bashing its skull in with a metal club.

it literally outruns missiles.
by the time its past you in a dive maneuver its too far to lock on. or too far to track.

last match lasted 20 minutes. 6 friendlies vs 1 f107.
he just kept diving and diving and diving and escaping and evading. and climbing and diving and turning. killing all of us until there was only two left. me and my squadmate.

just to torment he dived without firing, even though he had ammo.
we checked replay and he hit 1.6 mach at one point

this jet literally does NOT belong here.
he had 15 minutes of fuel left and he decided to be a sport and crash himself because he felt so bad about how overpowered and seal club-esque his jet was.

F-104s Makes Other 8.7s Irrelavant.

Literally cannot do anything in anything from a Saber to a Venom. ♥♥♥♥ I'd even argue MIGs can't do anything because even a dumb F-104 pilot would just yeet at some poor bastard and yeets off into the sky at Mach 1.5+. Its better to just AFK on uptiers on 8.7 jets from now on better to pay the 10k repair just to get yeeted by Luke Skywalker.

If they modeled it correctly, it would be fast, but it would still suck. Everybody who could afford to get rid of it, got rid of it the first chance they got. For a reason. Just saying.

I'm sure there's going to be some changes in tactics and the F-104 will not look so super....

Look at how the real jets compared. I assume Game Thunder can't be THAT bad that they don't handle like the real thing AT ALL, right?

They had similar top speeds, although the 104 was faster to accelerate and faster to climb.

The F-4 could turn better than the F-104.
The Agile Eagle slat F-4E and the USN/USMC F-4S model with slats could turn better still.

The F-104 could display nasty stall/spin when turning hard.
The F-4 could be nasty too, although the slatted models were greatly improved.
The F-4 did not earn nicknames like "The Widowmaker", "Flying Coffin"...The F-104 did that.

The F-4 had a good radar. The F-104 did not.

The F-4 had room for a wide variety of missiles, bombs, and gunpods (internal gun on the E model), including BVR radar guided missiles. The F-104 did not (Except 2x AIM-7 on the Italian F-104S, but at the cost of the gun).

The F-4 was adaptable to a wide variety of missions. The F-104 was not.

The F-4 was capable of carrying an array of ECM equipment. The F-104 was not.

The F-4 eventually added technology never seen on the F-104...

As early as 1969, the USN F-4J/N/S series jets had a system called VTAS, which allowed the pilot to use a helmet mounted sight to aim his Sidewinder missiles off-boresight.
(This was dropped in future designs but later stolen by the Soviets.)

The F-4B and F-4C were fitted with an infrared system, the IRST, to allow passive target detection and attack through the use of infrared. This was dropped, for reasons I do not know, on later versions.
(The soviets again later stole this concept)

With every update new jets will be added and mess up the high ranks, gonna give it 2 years or so for some gaps to be filled and br spread higher and adjusted. Til then, play what works, bit sad that many previous working planes are gonna get smashed for a good while but it is what it is.
