How Prevalent Is Hacking In War Thunder?
I stopped playing this game like 3 years ago. Played it again this week for the first time in ages, and I don't know if I'm just rusty, or if the game has changed that much, but I have been getting wrecked in every match. However, some of the instances that I've been shot down have been extremely questionable. An example:

I was flying a bomber at a speed of around 350. I noticed a fighter diving at me from above so I started to dive to increase my speed. I got up to around 450 when the fighter caught me. The fighter was easily doing over 600. I switched to turret view and levelled out, expecting the fighter to go flying past me and take a shot at it as it went past. However, the fighter came down behind me, levelled out as well, and slowed down to the same speed as me in about 1.5 seconds. He hung behind me, matching my speed, got a critical on me, and once I started to go down in flames, the fighter shot past me and straight up vertical at what was easily 600+. As far as I know, no plane in the entire game can perform like this, and this match was in the early tiers where the planes perform particularly badly.

So is hacking common in this game? I don't want to bother getting back into it if this is going to happen as frequently as it has been in the last few days.

I've never seen someone hacking or cheating so far and I've played on and off for years.

So have I. I just have no other explanations for some of the things I've seen in the last few days of playing. I don't remember ever seeing anything that I couldn't explain back in the day.

3000+ hours and not a single hacker I would recommend showing us the replay to see for ourselves and hopefully can give you some better insight into what happened.

Perhaps u are out of tune with what a plane can do after the time off. Some planes have bad energy retention, and a hard turn with the throttle down or off, quick tap of the flaps out/in again can take a whole lot of speed.

Dont know if i suspected cheating ever for wt air, maybe once but tbh i dont even recall that time. If there are players cheating, i dont notice it.

Exactly what I described is what happened. Someone was going extremely fast, slowed down incredibly quickly, and then blasted off again at a complete vertical at double the speed they were just doing.

I don't have the replay, I didn't even know that was something the game was enabled with.

Not saying there are no hackers BUT

yes the game has changed.
nothing you have described sounds like hacking.

If I had not played or still had the same skills as 3 years ago i would not last 2 minutes today.

Name the planes involved I'm sure someone will tell you what they are capable off.

and as asked, show the replay please.

have fun.

U can get the server replay from your battle logs if it was less than 50 (i think, just guessing) battles ago

Weirdly every other game in tank battles someone calls out someone else as a hacker but I'm yet to see anything suspect.

all replays are saved on the war thunder website im sure if you go there and in the community tab press replays and check the box that says with my participation it will show you all the battles you have been in.

I can't recall the fighter exactly, but it was a tier 2 fighter. And I'm not talking about your usual air brakes. This thing went from what I'm guessing was 600+, and shaved off 50% of that speed in about 1.5 seconds. Then sat behind me for 10 seconds, then took off past me at twice the speed they were doing whilst behind me.

I'm a pretty self aware person. If I could attribute this to anything else, I would have done so. But the performance of the plane didn't even come close to replicating anything that is available in the game, and as I say, it was a very early tier match where most of the aircraft don't even possess air brakes.

Let's not get into how many hours we all have. I would be well up in the 4 digit realm, so that's redundant.

without the replay no one can give you any advice, help, or even say that's "odd".
soz.

Arcade or realistic? Anyways it sounds odd to be able to slow down to your speed and just blast off again, regardless of mode, (arcade is more forgiving with some tricks here and there) but we cant know what went down without a replay.

You can't manipulate your speed on the client, movement is pretty much all done server side.

You can see that by how erratically your movement becomes when your connection is bad.

So whatever you saw probably wasn't cheating.

Just look at the replay from the view of the person who chased you.
It's all saved on the server.

In years I've seen a grand total of 2 that I reported through the server replay and have seen on those monthly ban lists.
Which are never more than a couple hundred, and given that numbers are around 60k+ daily, that's about .5% or less.

That being said, as others have mentioned, WT is a server side game, you can't magically change your vehicle stats to turn a prop into a mach+ interceptor, you can't change your position of where you are on the server, etc.

I recommend checking the server replay which you can find here by searching for your username and having the game client open. https://warthunder.com/en/tournament/replay/

Some aircraft have very good acceleration, and there could be a host of other factors which makes it very hard to tell what is going on from some words on a comment (no offense intended at all).

It could always be lag based maybe?
