Tips for the Zis 30, Comrades?

God I love this little sniper. my first impressions... very high-risk high reward. I love wild cards like that. but I have a question.

What use are the O-271 HE shells? I can wreck people with the standard BR-271 ammo, but once it comes around to the HE shells, I can't pen worth a d@mn. Is there ever a time to use those shells? or should I just load standard AP rounds?

Also, if any more experienced comrade wants to give me additional tips on the Zis, I welcome them as Im still somewhat new

HE power is usually related ti the size. Zis30 caliber is small so HE is not very good.

HE shells are quite useless against anything. Since the Zis has a MG, I wouldn't take any at all. Stick with the BR-271 shells. The only situation in which HE is useful is when you've got a large caliber gun, which the Zis does not have. I would say anything above 120mm qualifies for "large."

Be very wary of enemy aircraft. If you're on an urban map, try and stay close to buildings or under a covering to protect you.

It's a very fun tank to drive, that's for sure. Enjoy your complimentary Russian Bias to go along with it!

Don't' bother with HE shells. Use it as an ambush tank. If you have the money buy some bushes to cover it up as it's extremely easy to conceal with bushes which makes ambushing people much better. When it comes to positioning find an area off to the sides of the enemy ideally not in an area they're approaching from as you'll almost one shot tanks from the side but if you risk a frontal engagement and don't kill them immediately they'll mess up your day really fast.

HE is really only useful on 150mm+ derp guns like on the KV-2, Sturmpanzer, Ho-Ro, etc. For normal tanks, especially if you have an MG, I wouldn't really bother. Maybe take like 3 tops for shooting at trucks but even then you can usually kill them in one shot with the AP if you hit the engine or just MG them to death.
