Merkava Mk2 worth getting?
Looks like an interesting tank to grind the US tech tree with.

I've been playing it a bit. It's my only American tank beyond rank III
I used assault arcade to grind out the base mods (Parts, FPE, and Thermal) and it's not bad, but certainly not META. The armour is ok and the turret might save you a few shots but in the end you're useless until you get that APFSDS round

It isn't premium and doesn't have any of its benefits, so be cautious about that if you want it to grind the tree.

i could always put a talisman on it

The merkava is arguably better than the xm-1, cheaper, more survivability and a flat 9.0 BR. I get uptiered a lot more using the xm-1 when it's in my 9.0 line up.
Thats why i am afraid to get the XM-1. It might get uptiered a lot

Putting a talisman won't remove its rank RP range. So theres no way in hell you're going to grind through rank 1-4 with it regardless of talisman or not.

I have both Merkavas but have only played them sparingly. They're OK. If shot thru the front hull, your crew will usually be OK; giving you a chance to hit back before your enemy can hide; but you'll be immobile (fire/engine). The newer model has thermal sights for the gunner; the older one gets standard light intensification NVD.

Don't know what they're currently going for; but personally, I wouldn't pay more than what a normal premium goes for - but you'll have to decide that for yourself. For entertainment value: The Leo premium with the L/44, while lacking the protection of having the engine in front, has thermal sights, is more mobile than the Merkava, and just as capable. If hit from the side/rear - both are equally fragile.
