and what tanks are you thinking are paper?
i asked what paper tanks, you come back with is3.....it was built so not really paper.
armour is meaningless, you replay with atgms.....yes, well done, you agree with me, armour is meaningless.
I said heat fs because it came out before atgm.....so you reply with atgm, something that came out in the game after heat fs.
not sure what you are trying to say other than noise.
have you tried messing around with the amour protection anlayis in the amour tab in your hanger where you can see what will and wont pen you at what angle.
another thing treat every shot as if it will pen/kill you as said above amour is meaningless in this game at higher teirs
The meta is high mobility along with firepower with very fast reload times, players should never trust armour, armour its our last line of defence:)
But... you do you.
A few tanks manage to slip into a BR where a full downtier makes them very awkward to kill, such as the Jumbo or Churchill VII, but they're really the exception rather than the norm.
You're right though that the meta in Warthunder very much favours lighter, faster, vehicles with powerful guns. If you're going to be put at a BR where most guns will penetrate you anyway, why slow yourself down with armour?
Yeah that's what made me bored and stop playing. Every vehicle feels the same, you don't need to know anything about armour pen or the different shells fired. The game pretends it has all this depth but it doesn't. I could get a complete noob to play top tier vehicles and he would be no 'worse' than a 'pro' player. Just point and shoot. Real life tank crews would be disappointed.
There is of course a sliding scale. JdPz.IVs can be awkward at times, as can the M5-105, or KV-1s or many others.
In down tiers, the Tiger II is definitely on par with them in terms of being frontally killed. I fight them almost all the time and play them occasionally, they tend to be my easiest matches even when taken up.
Also, do you use the actual gunner sights or leave it off? I have it on and Tiger IIs are a pain to fight.
M18/leo/ R3 etc are utter sh+t in that mode
When you first get to the T-34's in the Soviet lineup, the angling potential is utterly massive. Very few tanks can pen a properly angled T-34, even at 4.0, I've found. Once you move past 4.0 with the T-34 lineup, don't try to angle and simply rely on your mobility.
Armor is not useless. You just need to learn when you can rely on it, against which enemies you can rely on it against, and at what BR's you can rely on your armor.
