I know i have to join a squadron, but for some reason it won't resarche this jet

Check in squadron window (click on your squadron's name).

Select tab "My Squadron", click on "Activity".

There you will see how much RP your squadron have got yet, and how many you'll get at the end of the period, and when the period will end.

This period will end 9th of May.

When you login after the period ended, you'll be shown a window where you can spend you earned squadron RP towards one of the squadron vehicles.

Btw just joining a squadron is not enough
You have to be active to benefit from squadron research
Once you make some progression you should see a green exclamation mark above the button to open research tree
This means you can apply the research to the currently selected squadron vehicle (no idea why they didn't automatically apply the points)
Make sure to select the correct vehicle in your squadron page si you get it asap

Here I am wanting more Squadron vehicles cuz I researched the others and finished them all. Sniff. :(

For what it's worth- you will not notice immediate progression. Your Squad XP I believe is tallied and given out every... three days or so? I've never really paid attention. It is not done in "real time" like SL/RP.

You can spend it when a period ends.

9th of May the next one is ending.

A period is 3 days, max RP you can get is 20k.

Depending on the activity of your squadron and yours.
