Learning the velocity of the gun would probably be the best place to start. I still don't have a clue how to aim the 37mm on my Yak-9T, but I rarely fly it since I don't fly Russian.

Climb and have altitude advantage, load tracer on the MG and use it to range-find.
Also, you are a perfect Bomber-hunter, just pray Gaijin your shots won't spark.

So i basicly have to do a bomber hunter.

I would recommend but not always, you can still kill other planes, just range-find with your MG

The one thing nobody else here seemed to mention: Tap fire the 45mm. While yes, you can just hold the trigger down, the accuracy is -significantly- worse than the 37mm after the second and third shot.

At the same time, this helps conserve ammunition.

I learn how to aim in arcade. The flight models are like UFO's, but the ballistics are the same no matter the mode. I only use arcade because of the aim "indicator", which is merely a suggestion of where to aim, something that most players won't know if using a plane with new armament.

Don't use it! The 45mm only sparks now. It used to be a great sniping plane and would only require 1 shot, but that is no longer the case even with the air targets belt.

The 45mm only has a HEFI-T "Default" belt.

You would never use the 9T or 9K if all you were able to use is the .50 caliber "Air Targets" belt.

And, it's only problematic for users who have poor net connectivity (High ping &/or high packet loss).

Fire it like a single shot as the other guy said just tap the shots one at a time , be as close as you can and aim with more lead , I have the 9T in my 3.7 line up and can do ok with it now but it takes some patience and practice to get used to that slow velocity cannon .

I climb to alt. Usually 4 or 5k. Then gain lots and lots of speed and keep it up at all times if possible. I dont go chasing fighters unless i am bored, there are no bombers or i got hurt. One to two shots then small pause. Any more than that and the gun overheats and accuracy takes a dive. They have nerfed the heck out of this gun now. What took 1 to 2 shots a few months ago takes 3-5 to take down a large bomber. I used to take down tier 3 bombers with one shot from underneath. Now i hardly fly the thing and prefer the yak-t with its higher fire rate.

be an arcade scrub and then it is op

It tends to spark, you can see the explosions against bomber hull but absolutely nothing happens.
If it happens to not spark then it's brutally effective sometimes, even against fighters if you are good shot.
Just dont hold down the fire button, in bursts the cannon rounds sometimes fly off at 45 degree angle after leaving the barrel.

Not much point in using it, the gun's hit detection is terrible. Stick to the Yak-9T.

because a gun that should be for tanks on a plane hitting a bomber's wing only for it to explode and deal 0 damage because hit detection hates you is totally fun to endure.

Same goes with the Late 109's Mk 108 mods (Those spark harder than fireworks on the 4th of july, seriously, i emptied 18 rounds into a pe-8's wing and they all sparked, then he pilot snipes me with 1 burst)

I use the cannon for late charge tank kills as well. 1 hits most of the time and 2 rarely. You can take out 3-5 tanks really quick if the other team is not on the ball
