Broken 152mm Cannon - HEAT Ineffective Apparently!?
Okay, so this annoyed me allot in one match, I was using the ISU-152 with HEAT, and the HEAT shell for this tank is like a Nuke (Seriously try it, it's really good). So I was in a situation, my Cannon Barrel was broken, so I took cover to repair it, then suddenly a IS-6 decides to charge at me face front of my Cannon loaded with HEAT able to pen 250mm, he stopped closer than 10m.

Though my Cannon was broken, HEAT shells don't need momentum like APHE or similar shells to Pen, I shot my HEAT in his front turret where the Gunner and Commander sits (150mm Thickness, though Effective could be 160mm), unfortunally it doesn't pen nor had any damage done to the tank and killed me outright. It was so BS that I quit the match after...

Problem is I always question the logic of this game in a realistic sense, though I forget it's a game, it still annoyed me that IS-6 got a free kill just because my Cannon was inoperatble...

My Point? Don't make HEAT useless like a APHE just because my Cannon is broken. It's unrealistic and stupid, if my Breach was broken that'll be a different story...

If some of you don't know how HEAT works let me fill that in - the HEAT shell achieves penetration through a combination of chemical and kinetic energy. When a HEAT shell detonates on impact, a metal cone (often copper) is cold-formed by the pressure created by the detonation of the HE-charges surrounding it turning the metal cone into a metal beam which penetrates armour at supersonic speeds. Thanks to the HE-charge creating the penetration potential on impact unlike conventional kinetic rounds, HEAT rounds do not lose any penetration potential even on very long distances.

Another advantage of an HEAT round is its multi-purpose damage characteristics, the explosion by the HE-charge makes HEAT also effective against soft targets like trucks, facing armour the metal beam creates on penetration a deadly cone of armour fragments and itself destroying any modules or crew members in its way, though ingame the after penetration damage can be quite annoyingly punctual requiring a very precise aim. This ammo type was greatly improved past the sixties to improve on many issues the first WW2 iterations had like limited after penetration effects, low travelling speeds and penetration.

EDIT: If you're wondering, I play PS4 version, yes I know, very peasent of me. But I'm a Gamer and own all systems...

Only russian HE shells were nerfed a year or so ago. German HE on the other hand...well lets just say you've probably never used a sturmpanzer II or Brumbar

Try using the Chi-Ha Short Gun or the 105mm Sherman.

Already have, works fine. Unlike you I don't attempt to use them against higher tier vehicles. I use them how they are supposed to be used; against same or lower br vehicles.

Yeah, that Pz.II surviving a 105mm to the side with no damage is fine, or the optics of a Ha-Go absorbing my 120mm round. HE is broken.

It is a symtpom of bad game mechanics.

Yep, and Gaijin needs to fix them, or implement a machanic for HEAT. Too many shells have lost it's realistic effectivness for sake of balance. RIP APCR - once good, now an expensive brick :(

thats bad registration caused by RNG, chances are your ping was over 100.

My ping is not over 100. HE is broken, there is no refuting that, Ha-Gos shouldn't be surviving a 120mm HE shell because their tracks are an invincible piece of armour.

HE isn't broken, you're just getting bad registration. The track absorbing/ diverting shells is a known issue not just with HE but with ANY shell type.

second that. I had many times when i hit russian tanks with AP or APHE shells and the tracks absorbed all.

Yeah, that wasn't the best example, but the HE still should have killed the Ha-Go.
