? TANKS ? Does real battles remove target tracking?
I left World of Tanks because of auto targeting. Is there a write up of differences with arcade/real/sim?

There's no "auto-targetting" in War Thunder whatsoever, not even in Arcade mode.

No, you weren't actually.

There's no target tracking or auto target.

Arcade: Allows 3rd person and a marker on the crosshair that lets you know of you can pen the armor and how far away it is.

Realistic: Allows 3rd person. No assist with rangefinding or whether or not you can pen the other tank. Bigger maps.

Sim: Only the view from above the commander hatch. Realistic optic placement. Same stuff as realistic, only even bigger maps.

Calm down, I already answered your question. There's no such thing in War Thunder. There's a lead indicator displaying how far you need to shoot infront of a target to hit it in Arcade air and a coloured penetration indicator in Arcade ground, but no automatic tracking or what not. These indicators are removed for Realistic and Simulator modes.

Sorry. I am really. The first comment was xxxx though. In the controls menu there is a setting called TARGET TRACKING. When I use TARGET TRACKING the turret AUTO AIMS at the enemy tank. This is not a joke. You can see it in control settings and there are discussions here and on other forums refering to 'target tracking'. I think it is reasonable to have the gunner track a target but I prefer not to play with players making one shot kills from a distance at full speed. It is best I join a RB and test it myself. I should have done that to begin with. If you two don't know there is a target tracking setting I understand. The first person, well, I wish him a better attitude towards others for his own sake.

Oh, there is? I rarely play arcade but I somewhat remember hearing about its implemention a few patches back. Shouldn't be too surprised honestly, Gaijin keep trying to make the game easier and easier...

But yeah, in RB and SB there's none of these features. Infact in RB there's no markers over enemy tanks whatsoever, and in SB there's no markers at all (on friendly or enemy) so you actually have to ID your targets.

Even if there is target tracking it would be useless. Most tanks have different penetration spots, and many times you'll want to knock out specific things. You may want to take out engine on a tank about to round a corner, aim for gunners/turret on someone about to shoot you etc.

No hand holding like in WoT, which is why I left it after playing my first round.

I think he means auto lock on, so if you were to press X to lock onto a target and get into gunner view, the turret will automatically move towards the locked enemy

Good info. I have much learning to do. When I saw the command I was ready dump the game. Well I am on a project now so play time later. Thanks again people.
