How to cross play xbox and pc

I'm on pc and my friend is on xbox. I've read other threads with people saying they have played with a pc player or an xbox player. but me and my friend cannot, why? is it implemented in the game? We've tried alot of things. Please help

what things did you try

Tried going into contacts, and searching his name. Nothing
Tried finding him on facebook with that 'find facebook friends' thing nothing
Tried getting him to enable cross play between platforms in his xbox settings, He already had It on. Nothing
The only form of contact we can get is messaging on a closed chat, I click his name, and then inviting him to squad or adding as a friend is faded out, It says' cross platform not supported' or something close to that, I can't add him from his profie ( player card) either
Oh and tried adding him to a squad. Absolute no luck what so ever

im an xbox player and that plays with pc and xbox now its a little confusing at start but if your searching his name makes sure you have @live at the end. and the invites are weird for xbox people cause they dont alert like they do on pc

I just started playing with my friend on PS4. All I did was search for his name, then clicked add friend and it just worked.

The "cross platform not supported" error is kinda weird. Probably belongs on warthunder's actual troubleshooting forum

Thank you for all your help :) anyone who may have my issue and can't join an xbox friend Is most likely because your pc account is linked to your ps4 account, or you're on ps4 which ps4 and xbox cannot play together. This was my issue and hope it helps anyone else with my issue :)))
