F1 Key

Anyone know how to unbind the F1 to the help key? looking to bind it to something useful

There are many old posts that don't work anymore but i found a solution based on them: you have to export the controls file (found on the controls interface ingame in the lower left corner). You will find this file normaly in

"c:\users\<username>\Documents\My Games\WarThunder\saves\"

(it's a .blk file, you can open it with editor or similar text programs). I would recommend doing a backup just in case. Then open it. Almost at the top it says

"hotkeys{"

and after that you find the hotkeys listed, however not the one for the help key (F1). But you can just simply add it to the list by just typing

"ID_HELP{}"

after the

"hotkeys{"

I don't know if it affects anything, but at least to keep it organized i would recommend to write it properly in the next lne with a empty line between it and the next hotkey (just similar to the other ones written in there, you'll know what i mean when you see the file). It says now basically that there is the help interface wich has no hotkey bind to it (it wont appear in the controls ingame tho). Hope I could help you and maby some other who gonna read this post.

EDIT: forgot to mention that you have to import the edited file afterwards. The import button is next to the export button described earlier

To anyone trying to figure this out in 2020, this method works. The start of your exported controls file mentioned above should look like this:

its strange how i think like warthunder control menu is pretty good, but then u cant even unbind f1 in game its kinda like wtf
