How do I use AIR TO AIR and AIR TO GROUND missiles?

How do I use AIR TO AIR and AIR TO GROUND missiles?

They dont always fire and don't hit the target anyway... any way of LOCKING the target?

By default air to air is Alt+X to activate the missiles and Alt+Space to fire them once locked.

I get that, but when I click Alt+X I only see the circle for a second

You need to lock your target in the circle and then launch AAM.

I did. I keeps flying past it only when I aim at it straight

Look at your Missile Stats. Look at Guidance system type.
If it says Hand Aiming then you Aim.
If it says Semi-Automatic then its Aim+Lock On.
If it says Automatic then LockOn.

Make sure your within about 3 km otherwise it locks on but won’t fire

I understand how to fire and guide AAMs, but what about AGMs?
