how do you keep the keybind changes after an update?

Export them, save them to onedrive or simular then come whatever you can import them. Anything else will always leave you exposed to losing them.

Timing! Just mentioned this on another thread:
I also recommend saving your control bindings (you can do so at the bottom of the control menus) as a file and you can reload this file if it ever resets. I try to make sure to do this prior to every major patch.

There are a few icons in the bottom left of your controls menu, hover your mouse over them and you'll see which is which. You can export all of your bindings as a file, and reload any file you wish at any point in time.

I keep a profile of controls for my keyboard/mouse, and one for my flight stick setup, since swapping them out (or forgetting the flight stick is plugged in when I enter game) sometimes messes with my setups.

I always have an exported backup on the cloud. If the controls reset, I can briing them back with no effort. By the way, with this, you can set up the controls for multiple peripherals. Just swiitch config files if you fancy using the mouse for RB, then switching to a joystick for SB.
