You literally just got killed and saw exact location of the enemy. Is that so freaking hard to mark it on the map?
U can even do that during kill cam replay
that in game voice chat only works in a squad, not the team.
As for pinging the map,
after a while, lots of games, you realise some are just not looking at it,
when 3 or 4 tanks drive to the same spot and die to the same person, one after another, you have to wonder if you can turn the mini map off, I know you can turn off team pings.....they aren't looking at the map when people die and drive along happily.
Constant pinging or pinging something you can't see at the start of the game will get ignored anyway, if its the start and you can't possible see it, you are just getting people to look in the wrong place.
I have been for a while thinking of turning even this off, the amount of times someone pings where they think they KNOW someone is or going to be and I get killed by something sat in front of me because I was looking in the wrong direction is starting to do my head in.
I've personally turned off team and game chat, too many trolls, just looking for a reason to get you chat banned. If I don't see it, I don't react to it.
Also people get upset when they die in an open field and you ask "why are you sat in an open field, hows that going?" or "what did you expect sat on a bridge in the open?"
*Because most of the time people do the same things in chat as what they do here - blame the others for their mistakes, whine, spread insane conspiracy theories, troll.
But a map ping at the right time can save a team from flankers and campers.
War Thunder has loads of keybinds - maybe people don't know about quick communication commands?
- Pressing 'm' by default brings up the map and clicking on a position marks that position with a map ping
- Pressing 't' by default brings up the quick voice commands, e.g. following up with '4' and '4' will say 'thanks'.
edit:
Also, do not forget the language barrier. Quick commands are autotranslated into the language used by the client.
Have to do that from now on.
How do you do it again??
As for the chat wouldn't you all have to:
1. Be on some kind of chat channel to be talking and be part of a group?.
2. Have a headset to talk to anybody. I only use the monitor speaker so no headset or microphone.
If I was to start working with a tank squad or group I would definitively go that route. I would love being part of a group in this game. Taking out targets with strategy instead of just running around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. Let me get better first though.
If I was to join a squad or group right now I'd be so bad you'd swear I was a spy working for the other side.
You have to realize a lot of us are new. I just started playing this game a couple of weeks ago.
I'm still learning how not to die a screaming agonizing death every time I play.
Still don't know the maps or tanks despite continues reading and test driving what tanks you're allowed. Some of the commands listed on the control menu are a little vague. Yes I could spend hours on end at night perusing the different aspect of this game but then I would never play it and would lose interest.
I personally am a 57 general contractor with a wife and son in college and my "free" time is very limited right now.
One thing that is annoying as hell is listening to:
"Pay attention to the map"
"Pay attention to the grid square"
And all these other one key voice commands....
Over and over and over again.....
U should try to find a squadron u like then, surely players in many of them that would teach u stuff.
Press enter to pick up the chat in a match, and tab to switch from team, squad or all-chat.
Make a looking for squadron chat in the hangar chat, or check out what recruit chats are up and check their requirements. Many want their players to have some experience and reached for example rank ii on both airplanes and tanks to be allowed in, some have high qnd some none at all and takes every player in.
And you can use a chat program such as team speak or discord if you know others who play and use either of those. though there are other call programs like skype or vintrello which are less popular.
But im sure the OP meant why people dont talk as in why people dont type in game chat during matches. Which anyone can use by hitting enter. But i never use it because as i said before its a pain to use most of the time and distracts you from making proper plays. plus most randoms dont seem to notice they have a mini map or more likely they just dont look at the mini map for some reason, nor do a lot of people read the in game chat.
The mini map is very useful. the chat is not. i myself forget its even there half the time and rarely bother to look at it while in a match. i just find it easier to ping enemy locations manually on the map and watch and listen for other team mates who ping locations. its a lot simpler that way i find.
