Russia:
T34's and KV tanks are easier for new peeps. Punchy guns, mobile and great armour.
America:
Shermans are imo the best medium tank at that BR, they just have everything you need for a good time and in later rank 3 you get the jumbo (almost invulnerable from the front) and the M18 (super dooper fast with an insane gun).
Germany:
tank destroyers with highly sloped armour and medium tanks that have guns far above the BR they are at for an easy snipe fest. Cant forget to mention the tigers and panthers aswell that although are not invincible are very capable and fun.
Panzer IV F1
StuH 42 G
and maybe Cromwell's i think.
First three can be deadly with HEAT shells. Cromwell's accleration and speed makes them rusher.
Wait till you see the Panzer IV F2
The M4A2 is the best all-around, but the Chinese M4A4 sacrifices the .50 and some engine power to be at 3.3 with the 3.7 M4's armor
Cromwells are something of an interesting proposition. For those folks who enjoy shoot-and-scoot, the Cromwell is likely a perfect fit. They're otherwise very adept fast-response tanks, zipping to whatever engagement needs just a bit more firepower than is already present.
As for using it as a rush-tank, I can't say I'd recommend it unless you're a master of making use of cover. Barring some shenanigans that I got up to yesterday, I'm almost inclined to say that I've found even light tanks to hold up better once return fire starts coming in.
Overall, like many British tanks, it makes an excellent supporting vehicle but I should think it's a fair bit more challenging than others that have been suggested in the thread. It's a very strong tank for players who are already adept at not being shot, but I wouldn't necessarily go so far as to say that it's beginner-friendly. Bad armor and lack of explosive filler do go some way to detracting from ease-of-use, even if it's faster than many of the vehicles it's likely to come up against.
