Defending Stalingrad- No Enemy Ground Units

I was playing as the IL-2(1942) In 3.0 RB air battles and there were no enemy ground units to kill. Is this some kind of joke? Why would I even be allowed to spawn as an attacker if there are no ground units to kill? There is no way that my IL-2 is going to be any competition for any form of enemy fighter at that BR. If there are no ground targets to destroy then the point of being an attacker is just obsolete. Does War Thunder really think that an IL-2 can actually fight planes, the turn is horrendous, the climb is even worse, and any remotely competent pilot won't engage in a dogfight like the IL-2 requires. They will all either dive on me or just get behind me. Is War Thunder ever going to update the roles for attackers in this game, or at least update every map so there are ground targets to kill?

23mms don't do any good when you can't put anything in front of them to start shooting.

well idk how bad is your aim, but i grinded through the soviet early planes just like so many others here, and im like a super casual player, nothing special about my skills.
And if i could kill enemy fighters flying a Pe, then i had no issues at all by flying an IL
Right now im grinding the japaneese attackers, super hard to master, but eventually i got the hand of it, far from being a pro, but not the worst one nither

I have literally never started the game and not gotten into a simulator lobby instantly. You don't queue up lmao, you use server/room browser, whatever they call it.

So you're saying that every person you verse just goes straight into a dogfight with you and never, not even once decides to turn or idk... not dog fight? Seems just a little unbelievable...

Oh ok, so you only verse idiots, that makes more sense. I'm not being sarcastic, most people are able to hear or spot an IL-2 very easily. So your opponents must be bad at the game; it is a viable possibility.

You're really taking the concept that the IL-2 will lose against most opponents very personally.
