WTF with the damage model

I swear to god I'm seeing this more and more and its pissing me off more and more.

"tank burnt down"
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kill cam shows the shell damaging a track, and the ENTIRE REST OF THE TANK IS TRANSPARENT SHOWING NO DAMAGE, NOT EVEN YELLOW.

Fix your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ gaijin. This is starting to really piss me off.

I've been playing with friends new to the game, and have seen it across the entirety of my 4.0 lineup. From my pakpuma(which is the last straw that triggered me to make this thread. A single arty shell hit the ground at the beginning of the game, kill cam showed a single projectile coming and turning one of my wheels red. Not even black. Just red. Rest of the puma was entirely entact. And above? "Tank burnt down" It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid).

I've also seen this over the past few months on:
leclerc
kv-1b
T-80(both of them)
lorraine
T29
a fat variety of T-34s
and I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

It's always a "tank burnt down"

When:
No crew member is even yellow
No fuel tank is even yellow
No engine is even yellow
No transmission is even yellow
No ammo is even yellow
No breach
No barrel
No turret drive


Not even so much as a roof mounted machine gun is yellow.
The ONLY damage incurred during these incidents is a yellow or red(typically not even broken/black) track.(or wheel in case of the puma...)

This is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and its driving me insane.

As far as I know "tank burnt down" means hullbreak.

those don't have hullbreak enabled, so it's impossible to do that.
Speaking about puma, what did they hit you with? HEAT and HE will always cause an hullbreak.

even arty can hull break you, granted the replay does show funny stuff like a single fragment killing you through the tires.

Fragmentation is often displayed wrong in killcam for artillery (or just when there's a lot of fragments) and explosions that occur outside of the tank. It's not a bug / mistake / unrealistic that you die, it's just displayed wrong in the killcam.

So you're saying that arty landing away from a vehicle, and only damaging its wheel, causing a hull break...

Is "not unrealistic"

Do you understand what hull break is? Because thats incredibly unrealistic for some shrapnel to hull break a vehicle.

Arty uses 155mm HE shells. They can torn apart a puma just by landing close to you

You know whats the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ damage i have ever seen? I blew up because my ally blew up next to me, his ammo got hit and i was caught in the explosion.

Like for real?!

I could shoot a 3kg explosive directly between 2 tanks and they dont even take damage but i get blown up by my mate dying. The kill report on the side of the screen literally showed that i suicided.

@mastergauron1 He probably had a lot of explosives inside and they all went off. It actually makes a lot of sense. It happens much more often in naval battles, though.

Am wondering if such RNG equates to the general direction of the whole battle. Are losses soon followed up when you face such negative RNG issues? There are those battles where I feel our fate has been sealed even before the match has started and no amount of heroics will change the outcome. Opponents seem to be on steroids from the get go.
