the 98mm pen one
Atlas Aug 14, 2018 @ 1:41pm
here's my loadout

  • 32x BR-350B APHEBC for long range/frontal engagements as it has the most penetration.

  • 21x BR-350A APHEBC for flanking shots as it has +100g explosive filler compared to the B shell

  • 12x BP-350A HEAT shells for insta killing flak trucks/stuff that can get hull breached that you'd otherwise overpen.

  • 12x D-350A Smoke shells for providing cover during capping or repairing / obstruct enemy snipers/campers that are to far away to pen otherwise.

What about HE? Never underestimate HE, it is actually useful (as well as realistic to carry).

About as useful as fart in the bottle.
BR-350B is all you ever need.

I wouldn't advise in bringing the entire ammoload in any tank except some glass cannons (SU-100P, Dicker Max, 8,8 Flakbus) and most SPAA.
I'd recommend just using 25~ BR-350B shells and 2 or 3 D-350A smoke shells which can come in handy.

In SB I have literally ran out of ammo before multiple times, I always carry a full ammo load. The main logic behind it is to have some of your ammo racks empty, but at the end of the day it really doesn’t save you. If you were aiming for the ammo and not the crew, you are going to aim for some central ammo rack, not some dank obscure shells in the corner of the tank. I say it saves you only like 1:30, 1:50 on average; to put this into perspective I have played about 90 battles in my T-62 so far, and literally 1 out of those 90 battles have I been ammo racked by getting shot in the non-primary am I rack. Plus I carry full ammo for historical and realism reasons, only dying, capitulating nations are usually the ones that cannot provide enough ammunition to fill a tank.

I also carry some HE with almost every tank for the same reason, historically accurate and realism, but that isn’t the only reason. HE is very effective against very lightly armored vehicles like halftracks and armored cars (SPAA), HEAT can kill them well but not always; I load HE for them as it is way better, it is extremely satisfying to see every module incenrate as HE has basically 99% effectiveness against thinly armored opponents. As well, HE is sometimes useful to load for tracks and stuff if I face a tank I cannot beat, although this is rare. Another major use for HE is for aircraft, although you don’t shoot them downs often, if end of match or something I load them to shoot at aircraft, as they incenerate them when I do hit, and when I don’t they 99% of the time after all a free shell.

everything 76mm HE does, 76mm HEAT will do better.
I've found HEAT to be much more reliable (basically 100% of the time) with hull breaking then HE.

eh, if you've gotten yourself into a position whereby you get shot, 75% of the time you're already dead anyway regardless of whether you got ammo racked or not.

Agreed, if a tank can take HEAT, always take it over HE. It acts basically exactly the same while being more consistent for hullbreaking and being able to penetrate heavier armoured tanks if needed.

That is what I was saying earlier - how many times have you been saved by taking less ammo? I mean, like I said, I take full ammo in my T-62 and literally once out of the 90 some battles I have played I have been ammo racked in a non-primary ammo storage - and even that 2% of the time that doesn’t happen, then what? You die from losing your crew? You lose most of your crew and get heavily damaged, to die the 2nd shot? What if you are in a tank and your primary ammo rack is shot, but it doesn’t explode - you just loose all of your ammo... if you don’t have full ammo congrats, you literally lost ALL of your ammo! (Happens all the time in the T-44-122)

You can always take both, I usually do.
