I think it was actually because of Russian and Ukrainian players teamkilling each other. It's sad people can't put political / national debates aside, even for video games.

Actually if they removed it, it wouldn’t matter: you can make a Star of David by taking two Canadian ground force triangles and flipping one upside down, and overlapping them.

All they did was use a conflict as an excuse to force monetization of a popular decal, in typical Russian fashion, and they were able to earn money from this conflict.
