Is a great way to get some kills (especially in RB). They can be ok ground-pounders in Ground Battles, too.
Its fighter variant is not even a strike fighter, its a night fighter technically. (Gaijin should reclassify it as one)
As we all know, the concept of a heavier "night fighter" with loads of added equipment faded out of use eventually, usually because they was far bigger than any other day fighters of the time period. (with all their communication and detection equipment and other stuff)
Its not unreasonable to say that its current handling performance is unrealistic tho, considering its literally just a bomber converted for the role, it's not built for the ground up for the other roles.
i dont know about other nations, but i know quiet a bit about USSR during ww2
when germany tried to bomb Moscow they suffered heavy losses, later Hitler tried night raids but the soviet night fighters, which were refitted regular fighters rained havok on the german raid parties, eventually hitler gave up as he lost too much during these attacks.
The soviets used regular fighters equipped for night fights, in addition they used baloons in pairs, raising them if i remember correctly to an altitude of 4000 meters, which forced the german bombers to fly too high to be effective
