I've heard that using a VPN is permanently bannable? Is this true? What are the rules regarding VPNs?

Basically : if you use a proxy server (middleman if you want) you are breaking the terms of use and your account can suffer a banhammer strike

(VPN paid services are proxy servers but it is way cooler to present it as a "completely safe and confidential way to navigate over internet anonymously" to sell it)

If you used it to purchase items locked in your country or buy items with a currency that is different from the one of your actual country then yes they could remove the items obtained in this fashion or freeze the account

But it is only a possibility, not a sure fact. I do not know if Gaijin is actively hunting players in this situation. But it is strongly advised that you should not use that again if you want to avoid problems
