Air battle "Basic Tutorial course. Takeoff and landing"
I spent many hours on this game in arcade mode and I was getting pretty good and arcade mode was getting a little simple. So I thought I'd try the more realistic and try SIM mode.

In the tutorial I just could not ever get off the ground with the mouse. Spent an hour trying and searching. So I thought I'd try the a joystick from my FSX,which works great.

Tried for two hours to get a joystick to work. Keeps noising over or spinning to the right and crashing. Tried mapping the joy stick and after about 50 attempts I ended up mapping something so I couldn't start the engine in the tutorial. arghhh. reset to defaults, still can't start the engine.

Look, I'm not an idiot, I have an extensive FSX setup and lots of modes ad more years configuring systems then I care to mention. I've never seen anything so difficult as this. This is insanely difficult and frustrating. Remember, this is a game, ie: fun, and this no longer fun.

realistic battles dont have that issue so you must be doing sim not realistic. Which is fine I just thought I would give you a heads up that if you want something with an in between difficulty you should try that. my guess is the take off and landing tutorial is for sim in which case if you properly trim your rudder you should stop having the problem. I don't do sim much at all but i believe that should do it

I really agree with you. calibrating joystick its a nightmare but fsx or xplane11 this so easy.

Yes, SIM mode. I updated my post. I tried realistic and don't have a problem. I can't imagen what the issue is in SIM mode. I could get mouse control to work in SIM, let alone a joystick. In mouse mode the I start the motor, flaps are set, add full power. I can control the rudder with the Q/E buttons and keep it on the runway but then I get the pompt that we have enough speed and system appears to be waiting for user input with a move of the mouse. I see it move on the screen but nothing happens it appears to be waiting for mouse control input. After a while of moving it around, sometimes, the action returns but the plane is totally un controlable. I thought in controls are inverted so I tried pushing the mouse forward to climb but it still crashes.

Ahhh I finally got it working,,, I deleted the game and reinstalled it setup the joystick and then was able to get off the ground and flying/landing first time without an issue.

So all these folks that struggle with it I suggest you try that and a Joystick. I couldn't get the joystick to reset to defaults so reinstalling the game worked for me.

So if it appears to not respond properly to inputs, give up - its NOT YOU!!, get the joystick config right and try again. Maybe delete and reinstall the game, your log in saves all your awards so you don't loose anything.
