Can it do well? Sometimes. But more often then not, they end up as easy targets for the enemy. Tall, not very well armored, usual Soviet level gun depression, and a long reload often just cause more issues then it's worth. If you really want to use either one, keep it at range and make sure you have solid cover you can reverse into while reloading.
With the same ammo choices at the same BR, I'd simply move to the IS-2. Not really that much more safe in terms of armor/protection, but it can be bouncy, has a turret, and the low profile makes up a bit for the lack of gun depression. So long as you are playing RB, you can stick it in a line with the IS-2 as backup.
1. slow and hard to control + they cant turn in one place.
2. firing arc is minimal, you have a hard time to keep the aim on the target.
3. only 90mm frontal armor, even the pz4h can pen you with the long 75mm cannon.
4. long reload time, if you miss or not penned the enemy then you are pretty much dead.
ehh... what can I say, this 2 TD is literally extinct in the game because of the many handicaps, i only can suggest the general things.
1. know the maps and the main roads where the enemy travel.
2. camp the capture zones, this way you going to get garante few kills.
3. force out the long range battles, even if you get spoted or get hit you can get away and relocate.
4. you can pen a lot of tanks with your 122mm doom cannon, its the same cannon just like the js-2 and the mod44 version, just aim well.
its not a easy TD but if you get use to it then you going to enjoy blowing up everything with the 122mm cannon.
