helicopters too weak.
They die to everything. I dont have a single match, where i lived while in a helo. US choppers to be exact, they need a buff.

Helis aren't weak though. They are highly reflective of IRL performance. In terms of resistance (or lack thereof) to damage.

Keep in mind autocannons and MGs are the things shooting at helis here, not sporadic small arms fire. IRL LZs in Vietnam were no-go zones if the NVA or Viet-Cong had 12.7mm and 14.5mm MGs mounted nearby. The guns were extremely easy to assemble and often were makeshift AA for landing zones and just a well-aimed burst could doom any heli approaching.

Think about also how this doesn't even touch on 20mm and 30mm cannons that we have in WT where a click of a mouse can erase a heli.

they really need to add air to air missiles for helicopters thats pretty much the only way they can defend themselfs from plane attacks everything else ends bad.

while i agree that helis are weak, if you kill me from your spawn and i have enough sp to spawn in a plane, i will ruin your day for doing that. even though i know you have no choice but to do so

to all the people that are saying helicopters are weak, how do you suggest they get changed? i dont think they should be able to have the same survivability as tanks.

Helicopters don't hover in place over active battlefields within MG range IRL for a reason...

I keep seeing players staying in one place out in the open, I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone using cover for their heli.

Protip: if the entire enemy team is in planes, maybe don't spawn as a heli?

gaijin has said that they have no interest in fire-and-forget missiles. if they can figure out a way to make them take skill then we might see them. either way, i dont see why people have issues with the current AGMs. you can peek over a mountain that is really far away from the battlefield and just fire a guided missile that can usually take out a tank in one shot. gaijin was even kind enough to make the camera lock onto targets for you so that you have no issue hitting your target. come on people, learn how to use these things properly.

Gaijin only covers one of these, then thinks that's balance.

Also Helicopters are supposed to be a hybrid CAS, mostly working against infantry with dumb guided Hellfires or an equivalent and plenty of HE ammo.

Backup AP ammo is nice for destroying armor IRL too and does pretty nice, but isn't ingame as far as I can see.

Also Helicopters flight model is gimped compared to what they fly like IRL.
also you'll need 2 players to control it effectively, 1 for the weapons and another to pilot. in-game it is just a glorified flying ATGM platform.

For me, the biggest problem is that they are expensive repairs (from 12,700 to 13,700 SL) for all helicopters ..
