does anybody know? on the greater map the > 1056 m is as usefull like ok moon would be like more then 1056 m away -.- why not at least give a worth like 1800-2300m or so?

It does go further than 1km.

That's the farthest that your CREW can judge the range of an enemy tank.

Rangefinders and Laser Rangefinders can go up to 3-4km.

Aka, get a tank with an actual rangefinder equipped, you may have to research the modification first. :P

Rangefinders are different for each tank. More modern MBTS (T64, etc) can rangefind 4k+ distance while lesser tanks such as the type 61 can only range to about 1.3km.

They don't have rangefinders on them. That's the crew judging the range. Uprade the "rangefinding" crew skill and it'll go farther out.

Once you get the rangefinder modification for the Panther F I believe it goes as far as 2.6km.
But I almost never use the range finder, my eyes are faster and more accurate.

It goes up to 800-1200 based on your crew skills, and gets ever so slightly faster. This is literally just the gunner estimating the distance.

Rangefinder is an optical rangefinder, which is more precise. Some rank 4 tanks get it, usually rank 5-6.

Laser rangefinder will find anything up to usually 4700-5000m, to the nearest 25m. Rank 6 only.

I doubt they would remove it, doing so would mean the German medium tank line jumps from 6.0 straight to 8.0.

They have earlier this year though actually expressed interest in removing the Panther II and Tiger 105, so it is a possibility.
They probably would add something in between, such as another M48 varient or some other West German vehicle.

They've expressed interest in removing them before. But that's a huge gap.
Although, they now have almost entire trees full of other nation's vehicles so it's possible.

I think that is what they would do: they could add a walker bulldog that W.Germany did use, which is in the BR bracket (although it would be a light tank in a medium line admittedly), and/or add a generic M48, or maybe another variant of the M47 if there is one other than the premium one.

And then of course, there is the gap that already exists, the 8.0 (was 7.7) to 9.0, which I never understood why they moved the Leopard A1A1 to 9.0 instead of keeping it at 8.3 with the APDS and adding the Leopard 1A2 to 1A5 (they could have made it like the A1A1 at 8.0/8.3 in an expandable folder after the Leopard 1A0 with same ammo, make the Leopard 1A2 8.3 (same ammo as A0) with the 1A3 in an expandable folder after it at 8.7 (with slightly better ammo, but not the APFSDS of the 9.0), have the Leopard 1A4 9.0 w/ the APFSDS (would be better and more fitting: better tank (not too much better to justify 9.3) and because of it’s year, they could make the APFSDS a lower tier mod), then have the Leopard 1A5 a higher BR than 9.0 as a good backup tank, with working DU ammunition when they get the mechanic working (although, the BR range will be extended to 11.0 or 12.0 for sure if they add working DU as well as late Cold War tanks)).

Gaijin has officially stated that they'd remove the Panther 2 and 10.5 Tiger only if they can replace them with other vehicles in the same BR.

The Panther F does in the way of either a stereoscopic or coincidence rangefinder. The mod for it is also down in Tier IV on the far right.
