Why did throttle have controlled by scroll wheel

I'll be honest, I think the scroll wheel is an underutilized feature in most gaming situations, but I have the unfortunate curse of an inconsistent and difficult to use scroll wheel.
Sometimes I end up middle clicking, sometimes a "half scroll" is registered (causing a glitch that registers both up and down scrolling at the same time), and other times it's just plain impossible for me to scroll without using my nails to dig into the rubber.

Tl;DR: I have a crappy mouse.

I know there are settings to change this, and I have literally JUST started playing, but I'd like an immediate guide on how to change this and where before I get used to a system hindered by crappy hardware.

First off, you can dissable the mouse wheel acting as a throttle:
Controls -> Aircraft -> Main control axis -> Mouse wheel -> None.

To set keys to your throttle:
Controls -> Aircraft -> Main control axis -> Throttle axis.

Personally, I use both the mouse wheel for fine adjustments, but Z and X as my main throttle, but set them to whatever keys work best for you.
