War Thunder won't stop "Running"
So I'm having an issue using steam on my laptop. I want to play some of my other games like Skyrim or Scrao Mechanic, but every time I go to launch them, steam says "You are currently logged in on another cimputer using War Thunder. Hitting continue will end that session." So I hit continue and I wait for 20 minutes and nothing happens. I switch back to my computer that I was playing War Thunder on. It's completely shut off, no lights, no fans. Nothing. I turn it on, go into steam, launch War Thunder, close it, go into task manager, close anything Gaijin, completely log out of and Task Manager exit steam and hard shut off my computer (Holding power button). I go back to my computer and it says I'm still playing War Thunder. I don't use any other computers and War Thunder isn't running on this laptop... so... what do I do?

i never figured out how Steam determines whether i'm playing a game (or started anything on Steam) or not =/ do they 'scan' the processes for known executables, do they create a specific file somewhere within the Steam directories (like ..\games_running\id_236960\block.txt) or do they write something within their own config files or even in the registry ?!? no clue...

if someone with some insight on this could share his / her knowledge i'd be grateful ^^ (as this could help not only to find out about why things like this happen but also about how to solve this issue)

anyway... (assuming they are scanning for the game processes)
are you sure you did shut down all processes related to War Thunder or Gaijin in general ?

there are quite a few processes related to the game... not only the aces.exe (the actual game client) and the launcher.exe but also the bpreport.exe, gaijin_downloader.exe and the gjagent.exe

and to make sure you see all processes you need to select 'more details' in the lower left corner of the task manager (Win10 and Win8) and maybe go to the details tab rather than looking into the processes tab. on WIn7 / Vista you'll see all processes by clicking on the 'show processes from all users' button in the lower left corner of the task manager.

one other possible fix for this issue i could find (on another forum) is to delete the GameOverlayRenderer.log in the Steam folder (c:\program files (x86)\Steam\). to be able to delete that file Steam should be shut down first.

good luck ^^

try going into the game files and running it there, exit out of the game and you should be able to play the game

I figured it out, apparently, I had to relaunch my laptop after exiting out of everything, thanks for the help though!
