What's happened to bomb splash damage?

OK... I've been playing this game for a long time now and I love it. Well... I DID love it, especially playing as a bomber. But since one of the recent updates, bombs now seem to be so underpowered as to make using bombers pointless. Even the use of 1000lb bombs against armoured cars and patrol boats has become a frustrating exercise, where nothing short of a direct hit will cause target destruction. Why has this change been implemented? It certainly doesn't make the game more accurate, as bombs rely upon their blast radius to cause damage, not having to hit a small target directly - otherwise you may as well be dropping a solid object with no explosive charge. I hope this is something that is going to be rectified or I for one will be ending a long and happy relationship with this game. Not to mention the money I've (happily) thrown at it over the years.

So if any of the devs are reading this... please, please, please stop pandering to the fighter jocks if you're going to have ground targets in the game. Make bombers useful and worth having again, or get rid of ground targets and make it solely air-to-air. I won't play it if you do, but I can't play it currently as I believe the balance has been so broken as to make the game unenjoyable for me. :-(

my problem is the pillboxes drop a 50,60,100,250 kg bomb on top of it and u get a nice HIT no more muving heavy tank vs 60kg bomb TARGET DESTROYED but pill boxes oh boy they are made out of 10 meters of steel

Nah pillboxes are made of reinforced concrete, and a heavy tanks roof has almost no armor at all to it, its the least armored part of the whole tank. While a bunkder doesn't move so the most enforced part is the roofs to prevent death by bomb. Go look up those fun documentories on Hittlers mega bunkers they made some monster bunker designs no bomb we got in game could even crack let alone blow up.

And some of those bunkers are like 1-5 meters of steel reinforced concrete, they make steel plating look like rice paper. Allies had to invent a earth quake bomb to take down the good german bunkr designs bombs designed to land near it and shake the earth so violently it shatters the foundations of the bunker, since the things could survive thousands of pounds of tnt with conventional bombs.

Things were so well engineered people cant' tear them down it cost too much money to pay for demoliton of the things. Notice how thick the roof is over where the gun would been located on lower half of this pick its several meters thick and rounded to help with bombs

ofc but merican 12,7 mm can kill it but 2x 104 kg of explosive cant kill a pillbox / light pill box we are talking abaut the game and not abaut real life

It's not pillboxes I have a problem with - they are tough and I get that... but when you drop a 1000lb (500kg) bomb within 20 feet of an armoured car and nothing happens... not even a "hit", that's when I have a problem. Especially when the same bomber strafes the same aromoured cars with .303 nose gun while waiting for bombs to reload and the targets explode. I mean... seriously? Vehicles that are built to withstand bullets ( at least standard infantry .303/7.92mm calibre weapons) get popped easily with plane guns but a 500kg bomb can't damage it. I don't like to complain and as I say... I've played this game for years, but these new changes are making the game too biased to players that are only interested in flying around shooting at other planes and not paying attention to what is actually happening in the battle. In other words... they've effectively removed the strategic element... which makes this game stand out above competitive titles like World of Tanks. Real shame.

to be honest i only faced that problem in arcade but in sim and realistic i didnt saw ( experienced ) that . and also may i ask why are u using bombs on armored cars ? wouldnt it be a better idea to use it on a more juicy target like example tanks , pillboxes , bases ? and kill small pewny targets with mashine guns ?

Its not an insult people get mad and classify it as one it means learn to play, and in this case it is l2p the machnichs for pillboxes mean you need more heavy bombs.
And 12.7s can not kill a pillbox but man that was a good laugh, they can kill the light ones from super low BR sure but once you see real pillboxes and bunkers you need a 100kg bomb or bigger and direct hit with the ligher ones to do mroe then get HIT from it.

Hell originally there was no pillboxes you could kill with a mg you had to have biplanes with bombs attached or kill all enemy aircraft back in 2013 to win a reserve match.

Ah, I see. Thanks. Clearly the guy can't read or doesn't understand my post. I know how to play, pretty well in fact as my win rate is above 80%. My point is that... when you've already learned to play and the game has established a set of rules and principles that define the game itself... then they change the very fundamentals... it's not the same game. The differences aren't subtle, they're huge. But you'd only notice if you regularly played as a bomber, which clearly Mr. "l2p" hasn't.

It means learn to play. Sounds to me like you're complaining because you can't aim the bombs. About the 500lbs bomb 20 feet off an armored car and no hits - if it happens as consistently as you claim it is, just record a video and post it on the forums. Gaijin will notice and make fix the bug. They don't check these threads so it's pointless to discuss anything serious here.
