Apparently, it's not what many people want it to be:

they'd might as well just make it standard APHE with higher velocity because just because it becomes Sabot doesn't means it needs to be an entirely new round to the game.

But it is an entirely new round. It is a sabot with an explosive filler. Like the BMP-1 or T114, for example it would need a new ingame portrait, model and description. The BMP-1 "HEAT-FS" is a tank grenade, similar to a RPG-7 warhead and it is modeled as such in the game. It even has it's own portrait.

Oh boy lets spend more dev time on some round that is only used on 3 tanks to make the Wehraboos happy.

What kind of argument is that? Only a few tanks use the tank-grenade aswell...

There's a big difference between a Grenade and a Tank round

Yes, there are big differences between individual tank shells aswell. If they made the german APHEDS like APHE, shouldn't sabot just have the AP portrait and model too?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Oh damn, guess I fell for a common case of being missinformed... Well, thanks for clarifying.

A question I have though is were there any APCBCDS shells for the 128mm and/or 88mm that we’re made and tested, but not really used/mass produced? It is practically confirmed there were no shells really ever used for the war, etc., but IF there was even a couple shells just tested, I wouldn’t mind seeing them for the Panther II and the Maus, since the Maus only had 1.5 built and the Panther II never actually had a full tank produced; and since the Panther II is at like what, 7.0 now and I heard it’s bad apparently? While the Maus faces 7.7 tanks and potentially higher tanks, and while I don’t have the Maus I noticed from at least the reciving end of the 128mm that it is a really good gun, but at 7.3+ it can struggle to penetrate some vehicles that actually have armor.

Mainly the Panther II I mention because 1. I hear it is bad, and 2. Because it looks bad. The reason I say it looks bad is from my experience of fighting it, it poses zero threat whatsoever. It’s slower than a T-44, it has about the same armor as the T-44 .7 br higher, it’s 88mm gun tickles many tanks it fights from the front, the tank is pretty easy to hit, the only good thing about the tank really is it’s front 100mm plate can bounce a shell if it’s angled while backing into cover, but otherwise it’s turret is a guarantee 3/5 crew down and modules in it, it’s lower plate is a 1 hit 80% of the time, it’s 88mm does not have the penetration for me to fear it, nor the reload of the Tiger II to put enough shells down range to hit a weak spot if it doesn’t hit one with the first shell and before I blow it’s @$$ back to Berlin; from the perspective of a player who fights the Panther II, and from many accounts I hear from people who do, the tank is pathetic.

What a mouthful that'd be, APCBCHEDS.

Don't forget to add the fins later...
