yes of course! the enemy gunner is on the left of the turret for all tanks but british and few others. if unsure you shoot the turret and get away, so they can't fight you back. if you can shoot the enemy cannon or cannon breech off they will have even to repair, giving you more time.

when you damage a tank the damage siluette will tell you where the enemy ammo racks are. same with pressing 'O':

if you shoot those ammunition racks, the enemy will likely die in a single shot. until you learn all the enemy tank layout, shoot their gunner side so you can see where to shoot next to kill.

also, at the beginning you have another disadvantage: crew experience. expect enemy to reload faster, repair faster and when one of their crew member dies they get replaced faster too

When you struggle to kill a certain type of tank, go to hangar, nation select your hard target and preview option, then x-ray the model to know where the ammoracks are inside, ammoracks its 1 kill shot.

If you are using the AMX 30 premium, I suggest play RB and flank using it's amazing speed. Look at your enemy tanks and see where thier crew are and where their ammo racks are. A HEAT shell to the ammo rack is nearly garunteed to one shot the tank by blowing up the ammo rack. If you need to, knock out he driver, get into cover or flank, and then knock out the gunner and rest of the crew. You can also hull break light vehicles and AA by hitting components like gun breeches and transmissions
