Panther-D vs T-34-85(D-5T)
They are in the same tier, but in recent matches I had a few salty moments (I came up with salty, yeah) in wich a Panther-D ame rushing towards my position from 500 mts away (me being in the T-34) and I could not pen him.
Anyone else feels like in most case scenarios the Panther-D would win against the T-34?

Don't shoot the front plate, shoot the mantlet, and if you are desperate enough or have the shot then the commanders cupola

Really depends. The Panthers hull is quite safe from the 85mm and the lower glacis to an extent (pen there and ususally a broken transmission and 1-2 dead crew at best). The better spots are the flat areas on the turret (beside the mantlet) or below the mantlet (may also hit the mantlet and shot trap down into the hull roof).

The T-34-85 has the overall better mobility though. Biggest draw back to the Panther is turning. Neutral steering is decent, but the turret traverse is similar to an M10, meaning if you get on their sides and they need to turn the turret fast, they are out of luck and you will go right through the 40mm side hull.

Mobility is simply the better option when facing a Panther D. They are great snipers, but a sitting duck when something closes in on them, especially from the sides.

The Panther D has a much worse turret traverse.

So I should flank the Panther D? and hope god he does not start shaking his turret..

A Panther D can't really wiggle its turret bc it has very, very little turret traverse. And shooting it frontally is no problem, as long as you aim for the turret cheeks.

If you look carefully on the Panther, you'll see there's a flat part next to the gun mantlet, shoot this or you can try shooting the gun mantlet, though I don't advise the latter because the mantlet is super trolly. Once you get the IS-2 you can go through his front plate though, so there's that. But in the T-34/85, just shoot him in the flat spot of his turret and remember he has very slow turret traverse.

i have gone down the sherman heavy line and with all the shermans i have used i just flank the enemy. everyone is shooting an impenetrable target? the lone slow sherman flanks.

Yes, flank him. Don't worry about a D model shaking his turret either. Stock, the traverse rate is 3.6°/s and that only goes to 4.9°/s upgraded, the same rate the Panzer IV J can travese upgraded (and Panzerbefehlswagen IV), so you will have time to make an accurate shot (and if you are on his side, simply plunk one into the weak 40mm side hull).

i know in game this can be very hard ( the guy using the panther will know this ), but try to pen at the sides of the panther.

nothing is more satisfying than flanking an enemy, aiming the perfect shot and then dying to the guy you didnt see.

The War Thunder experience.

Also : getting distracted by an enemy who doesn't see you, and then gettinh killed by that other guy that did see you.

Wellp, time for a break for this game, now I need to get better at flanking, but the Panther has a faster reloading rate, I am probably missing something here, Right now I researched almost the entire Russian Tier III and im constantly checking the german Tier III and im saying to myself ¨I want to go back in time and tell myself to play with the german tanks¨, most of the matches I see Tigers and panthers at the top of the leaderboards. You need less research point to get a Panther than a T-34-85. My guess is that Russians tanks at Tier III are designed to flank the enemy rather than face them and I have been using them wrong, I have been using them as a german tank.
Im going to take a break but thanks for all the info, this is a fun game, but grinding my butt off to get into tier IV (When the Russians realized that they needed to stop loading so much explosives into their shells and start redesigning them) and seeing how much RP cost every vehicle just leaves me without any motivation to keep playing
Again, thanks for all the info

Well, if you think german tanks are better, it's quite subjective.

But, let me tell you. German 4.7 till 5.7 isn't fitting the urban map meta. They are filled with turretless TD, save the tiger and SPAA (With the Panther D turret rotation, just act like it's a turretless TD). Even with the Tiger, you'll need angling a lot. It's quite harder compared to IS-series which armore already angled. But in Open Map like Kursk they are quite great tho.

Well, i'm saying that because you seems came from soviet tree, which most of them excel at brawling. But don't be afraid, German guns are amazing (20mm, long 75mm, and 88mm).
