don't listen to that guy. do what you want to do!
right ?
It was written tounge in cheek, but why not? It's not like gaming gets you anywhere ...
If not the guitar (worked for me), spend your time on something useful instead of wasting it on video games
It's really subjective and based on the person. Video games is a hobby and is not really meant to get you anyware. It's not productive, but it's enjoyable.
What's similar to playing the guitar is that it's enjoyable, but it doesn't really get people anywhere either. Unless the person playing it is one of the handful of the people in the world that has a successful music career.
i guess nobody wants to see or hear that. :)
so its like doing a social study class compared to anthropology education.... with social study people only find you annoying.... with anthropology you can atleast distinct between what yo ucan eat or not in the wild
both in most situations equally useless, but in some..... :)
problem solved
I never made it as a successful musician. What I did make though, was new and close friends and a social environment where I was accepted and respected. It literally changed my life for the better. If that's not getting anywhere ...
But you can do the same with gaming... did you forget that? You can make friends everywhere you go if you get along. What happened is that you and them had something in common, which allowed you to get closer until you all considered each other "friends".
The issue here is that you consider yourself unsuccessful, so tell me. Did you get anywhere? You're still as poor as before (Most likely) but did you make any real progress towards the goal of being "successful"? Did you put enough effort in? Was it stage fright? If I were to give my opinion, I'd give it another shot.
In the context you're putting it as though (Where it is more about friends), indeed so. You have done something that 90% of whiny failures that spend all their money and cry about it online (Twitter and Tumblr users...) haven't and got actual friends.
You have the same chances of becoming wealthy from both streaming (Which I'd consider as the most easiest way of making income and possibly becoming wealthy fast) and becoming successful as achieveing the same goal by playing the guitar and making money.
Meanwhile, playing on the streets will give you around £100~ on a busy day I'd say. I don't have experience of it, but from observations that is the average I've seen on a busy day.
Basically, no. You won't be successful if you play for tips. You could possibly keep yourself afloat, but even then you're better off getting a job.
