I like both. RB are for the thrill, AB is nice when you want to have a quick moment of fun.
Play what you like, don't bother the others for not liking the same, and don't listen to those who say you're wrong. Amen (Matthew 258:13)
To go back to the first question, there will always be haters/whiners/trolls in every game mode, but IMO the community is less toxic when the game is less...accessible. Realistic modes need more patience and skill -> less players -> less stupid LoL-type hate.
Still, I have the feeling that there are more haters than before, basically insulting the whole team each time they are in a losing team...
PS : I often hear people complaining about P2W in this game. I don't quite understand it, though. I never spent a single cent in this game, and I am able to be in the top 3 quite often in AB or RB.
to avoid being called a fanboy, I hereby give my arguments :
- premium vehicules are good, i can't deny this, but are not silver bullets. I see a lot of them with low scores during battles.
- golden eagles wagers. you may not win a lot of eagles with these, but I don't know any other game which allows a player to win premium "money" without actually paying.
- quite a lot of premium items can be grinded instead of just bought. In Elite Dangerous for example, you have to pay for every premium feature, no escape.
- the MIGHY BUSHES. you can get them in the warbond shop. oh yes you have to grind, but as you have to grind to unlock/upgrade vehicles anyway... these are not as efficient as they look, though, as narf said.
If you want to call me a fanboy, give arguments please ;)
I don't agree with you, at least for tanks. AB helped me a lot, and still helps, when you face new tanks. Less with planes, because the plane AB gameplay is a lot climb/dive/climb/dive, which will rip your wings apart in RB.
In tank battles, the "green/orange/red reticle" thing in arcade mode, and having lots of respawns (allowing you to face a lot of enemies in a single battle, and shoot a lot of shells) helps to learn the strenghts and weaknesses of every vehicle.
--> When I switched to RB, I was already able to quickly identify every tank I saw, and where to aim in order to efficiently get rid of the bastard (also which enemies I should just flee ^^). I basically used AB as a training range for ballistics and aiming. Still, I agree that the gaming style is different and one should not switch to often between AB and RB. For example, destroying the gun breech is almost useless in AB but a life-saver in RB...
Though some vehicles can be argued a bit of being quite welll, mostly known as the is6 or premium early p47's. Which in my opinion is more due to the Br placement than the vehicle itself ( these have been changed lately though )
About the part where you say that a less accisable mode means less toxic people i kind of agree and disagree, since fair enough more people will know what happened or how they died and thus take it less out on the one who got the kill, but at the same time you also get more of those who feel superior or above the other ending up in usually selfish players who fail to look in a teammates perspective and flame on about it, of which i recently had one flaming at me for not killing a tank that took them down whilst i said my gun breech, turret drive and engine were out and had no parts in chat
It's quite a difference in planes between AB and RB, but not in tanks. As you write the major one is the aim reticule, but if you have a bit of experience you already know how to aim without it. Aiming isn't the biggest difference in RB planes either btw, it's the physics. I have no problem hitting a plane, but I still tear my own wings off half the time diving ...
I really don't understand what you are talking about. There's not much hate in WarThunder at all. It happens, but compared to other similar PvP games it's very rare. Try playing World of Tanks for a bit, or the even worse Armored Warfare. The latter has the chat filled with hateful comments in almost every single match ...
I've seen comments on PhlyDaily and BaronVonGamez complaining and dissing why is he showcasing tanks/planes in AB mode. The only toxic players I've seen in this game is in Realistic compared to AB which is silent and no big deal if losing.
RB can be a breath of fresh air for an AB player and same way the other way around. Nothing wrong with AB but annoying mechanics to make it easier for some players and harder for others.
But I'd still stay with AB...because I cannot settle down for RB before I haven't grinded the entire german and japanese ground force and air force tree and all the modules...and for grinding AB is just so much better because you can consistently spawn three vehicles and all the matches are a lot faster so you get your rewards much faster and can quickly hop into the next match to grind.
Finally Arcade mode will always be dissed by certain types of P2W warriors, but to come first every other game go me requires a lot of skill and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I think of it as a team filled tank, where the pressure is off me to spot my targets because someone else is doing it for me, the guy with the radio, I'm the comanda, why would I be bothered with that sh!t. It allows me to just call the shots and that really is what makes me happy at the end of the day.
My experience in Arcade was from down right racist from a fellow arcade player first calling me a
"Yellow midget" and "Chinese Hacker" to down right offensive by just an another Arcade player calling me just a "Hacker" and reporting me, although I was never Banned :) I mean I used to get 11kills most of the time in Arcade and it was especially easy to do in low tier, I never enjoyed mid or high tier( because it was a more of a ClusterF*** than Low tier AB), but when I had like 400hrs, I decided it's time to change to RB, never switched back at that point and never looked back I guess.
Because you get called a Noob or a Camper when you whenever you killed someone, It's so much better instead of being called a hacker or using racial slurs on people for me atleast.
