Top 3-4 Crew Skills to Focus on with Tank Crews
So I am seeing a few people say the following tank crew kills should be focused on.
Tank Commander - Leadership
Tank Loader - Weapon Reloading
Gunner -Targeting and/or Rangefinding
Driver -Tank Driving

However the first one seems to have a discrepancy with what people think the Leadership does. Some seem to think it improves all crew skills, however is never shows any sort of indication that it's boosting other crew stats. Like when you pay lions to boost all screw skilled (Expert Qualification), it shows a visual indication that it is boosting crew abilities.

So then I dug a bit and found this:
https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/242752-tank-commander-leadership/

So it seems that upgrading leadership only helps when a crew member is taken out and it down for the count. Not any other time. Basically it allows the members of your tank to be Jack of all trades if you will.

However other people say it makes all crew better at their jobs. Which is conflicting with the above linked post.

So which is it? Just about all the threads of discussions I've seen are no less then 1 and a half to 2 years old.

So if Leadership is what the first post states (only helps when a crew member is taken out), then is there a better alternative to work on upgrading?

Thanks!

take a look at the date on that thread you linked. im pretty sure its so old it predates the skill rework...

so for prorities:

1) loaders reload rate
2) gunner targeting
3) driver driving
4) leadership
5) gunners rangefinding

get the first few levels in all of them and push them up more or less in sync due to the cost skyrocketing at later levels so better to get some benefit from those points you are earning rather than let them sit around not helping you

EDIT: you can litterally mouse over the relevant skill nowadays, for example the loaders reloading, and it will give you a breakdown showing the various factors affecting it

I always start with reloading, targeting, rangefinding, driving as first priority.
Followed by leadership since this is much more expensive skill.
Dropping one or two points into other skills meanwhile before getting the last point of reload and leadership is also good idea because last points of those skills are expensive.

I didn't know they did a rework. So that's good to know.

So how do I know that Leadership does anything? As there is indication other then the hover-over window that pops up.

Also thoughts on other skills that are across all crew members. Like Vitality, Field Repair and Agility? Thoughts on those? Also what about the Repair skills? For while the vehicle in is in the hanger. Thoughts on these too?

When you hover over the skill, it will tell you how much of an improvement you get from

1. The points put into the skill.
2. Bonus from the Leadership skill.
3. Bonus from qualifications.

As for what skills to prioritize, I do reload and targeting first as they have the greatest effect in combat. Leadership is next because it affects the first two. Driver skill is after that as it is useful.

I don't really put a lot of emphasis on rangefinding, as you get a feel for ranges on your own and I don't use the rangefinder that often. I prefer to put points into agility and repair skill instead. Shaving a few seconds off repairing a breech or switching in a gunner can make the difference between life and death.

If I have a lot of RP for a level 0 crew, I just spam click on random boxes. Other than that, I try and focus on:

Loader reloading
Gunner targeting
Gunner rangefinding
Commander leadership
Driver driving

Other than that I recommend things like repair and agility, so if you get hit you can replace your crew faster and repair a bit faster too. If your tank isn't a heavy or TD, artillery is good to focus on too for your radio operator.
