Diffrence between PzGr 40/1 and PzGr40?

PzGr 40 has higher penetration and has a higher muzzle velocity but is lighter than the PzGr 40/1 (I think heavier APCR shells gives more shrapenl, but PzGr 40 is better due to more penetration)

They're both APCR, but the PzGr.40 is the older and better round, using more tungsten, while the PzGr.40/1 is its later 'economy' version.

PzGr.40/1 was developed later due to shortages of tungsten, and is therefore a more inexpensive round with poorer performance and lower penetration. It does have better performance at range, but that is moot since you may as well use standard APHE there.

I recommend avoiding the PzGr.40/1 by all means.
It's present in-game more as a history lesson that adds to your grind than an item of real utility.

What tank are you using, because you shouldn't be using APCR with most German tanks, you should use the APCBC rounds

even then it should only be used when you REALLY need some penetration AKA if you find a KV-1

Yes. Only use the standard APCBC for anything except a kv1. And you should be flanking in a puma, so you should get side shots
