Thoughts on the XM1 Abrams AT 9.0?
Let's talk Abrams! Feel free to discuss the AVRE aswell. I am cautious about this tank, and the enemies it might face.

Do you think the upcomming prototype should be lower BR? Do you think it is okay where it is?

I think that if facing russian 8.7 + it will suffer badly. Same for British tanks that i think outclass it at 9.0 +. I think that it should be no more than 8.7 max.

it's got a good gun and mobility but that mantle really brings it down.

I had a look at some other tanks at it's BR to compare gun and armour (excluding paper tanks like leopard 2K) and honestly... Russia and Britain have same if not better guns, and better armour.

The cheiftain at 9.0 has insane armour compared to the XM1 proto. They should at least give the proto a better APFSDS, or just lower the BR. Think it's likely they will lower it when they realize it sucks?

I am not even sure if 8.7 will be okay. Other 8.7 tanks kinda beat it's armour and gun anyway. Some 7.7 tanks have better gun. Probably get up BR a lot too.

With the current meta speed is more important then your armor or your gun.

Thing is though the XM-1 is a rocket ship, it's extremely quick offroad, backwards and forwards. I can probably see it going to 8.7 at some point though.

Not keen on complete newbies being able to shell out for a 9.0 top tier tank without ever playing the game beyond Tier I.

Compare it to the MBT-70, and it's extremely similar.

I do not see it going to 8.7 unless people are terrible with it

Except it's very, very weak so it may aswell not be there

It could have the same ammo as the M1 (access to M774). Regardless, they should at least make the APFSDS round as the default (free) ammo instead of APDS.

It shares 2 rounds with the Abrams, M416 smoke and M735 APFSDS. The others are M728 APDS, M393 HESH, and M457 HEATFS. So mostly rounds from the R.I.S.E. (P), but with the M1's smoke shell (though there is no difference game wise between the 2 HEATFS shells).

But, then it wouldn't drain people SL supply and be forced to buy more out of frustration that they can't save enough for top tier unlocking and crewing.

Premiums at such high BR is dumb. Buying into top tier battles shouldn't be a thing.

There will always be idiots that buy a tank for a BR they don't have yet and then jump into games with just that tank.

It's not that bad. I don't have a problem if it is balanced for the BR, not too expensive etc. Bit annoyed they are raising price after release , though.
