It usually takes me popping 2-3 smokes before it actually takes effect...

Then I just get machine gunned.

if you cant find a use for it then just dont use it....

personally i use it to cover movement, pop some closer to the enemy than yourself, the amount of ground they cant see is much greater that way so finding you with MGs is less likely, especially when you just use it for a short dash between cover

No its not me having issues with dying, its just that I can easy spot tanks in smoke with my machine guns which makes the smokes kinda useless.

Smoke is not there to make you invisible, just harder to visually spot, giving you time and a better chance to move. If you do something to mask your position, they will do something to find you. Personally, I think the MG hitcam should not be there (unless it actually does some real damage, not show if it taps a track, barrel, or optic), but being able to hear or possibly spot sparks is fine.

I play without sound since I listen to music but yeah the mg hitcam is completely dumb when someone is in smoke and all I have to do to check if just spray into it.

its worse in AB where you can still see the enemies names and outlines. pointless

Don’t stay in the same spot when you pop smoke? You’re asking for it if you pop smoke while they still can see you, and you don’t bother moving.

No you can't. It takes a couple seconds but you can't once they're in the smoke.

Like I said its not me having a problem with dying by getting shot through smoke. Its the smoke just not working due to the way machine guns work.

but it does work...

lay it down when the enemy isnt activly shooting at you, dont necisarily pop out immediatly and lay down some more if you have to, use it to cover short dashes between cover, or into an intersection you are about to cross etc, if the enemy wants to waste shots into it let them, use it to fake them out or wait 'til they have to reload their MGs to make your move. there are many uses

No it is that when the enemy pops smoke to hide, I can spot them just spraying with the machine gun and the hitcam shows up letting me know where they are in the smoke. This makes the smoke useless as the hitcam allows me to find where they are even when completely hidden.

Whenever I see a smoke I can usually find the enemy just by randomly shooting and having the hitcam show up.

doesnt always work, you have to be dead centre of the deployment of smoke, if you cant see eachother but are within the outskirts of smoke you are still outlined

and you are wasting MG and giving your own position away when doing that, i would drop smoke on you just to draw that reaction out, then anyone can just fire at you muzzle flashes to find you. also seem to be missing the idea that its often best to pop smoke not on yourself but the enemy, they can see much less when the smoke is blocking half their field of veiw rather than being a small area in the distance.

I mean I really don't care I am "wasting" my mg considering my tank have several thousand rounds with large mags. The point is that I can shoot my mg and spot a tank in a smoke screen. I really don't get how you can't understand that this doesn't make sense. spotting a tank inside a smoke screen that I can't see shouldn't be a thing.
