Drop tanks

I know it would be mostly useless, but it would till be cool to have the option of drop tanks for realistic purposes

i would love them for enduring confrontation, flying out with minimum internal fuel and full drop tanks so you can loiter for as long as you need to before dumping them for combat would be absolutly ideal. i even heard they were looking at implementing them though this was years ago and i havnt heard anything since

These would be great, and totally useful. I always carry min fuel in jet combat, spend 5 minutes searching for the enemy, and by the time I find them, I'm low on fuel and gotta rush back to base after a quick fight.

A few vehicles had them at one point. The He-51C-1 and C-1/L had one, as did one of the A6Ms, the N1K, and the F6F. They are/were only able to be seen added onto the aircraft if you took a max fuel load, and could not be dropped though. I do believe they were removed entirely in 2016. Last I heard devs were interested in possibly (re)adding them, but it was not high on the list of priorities.

I just flew it out in a test flight to check before making the post, no fuel tank :-/

But - the N1K2 statcard photo does still show the external fuel tank it used to have as well.

It used to be permanent on the N1K2 (made no difference to performance, purely a visual thing) but it hasn't had it for years now.

I'm expecting drop tanks to be added in when RATO is though.
