Personally i hate HEATFS. Its damage consistency is piss poor when compared to something like HESH, APHE, or SABOT. Even HEAT has better consistency. Doesnt mean HEAT is good cause HEAT is like AP that doesnt spall. If you want to pen, HEATFS is the way to go.
If you dont want damage to come down to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ levels of RNG, id stay away from it.
Reliable penetration, sure.
Reliable killer? Perhaps in the past. Nowadays it seems like a roll of the dice, at best.
This has been my recent experience^
Take M103 for example: Before, the only (and I mean, ONLY) way to play it was to buy the HEAT-FS module with GE, and forget taking any other kind of ammo.
After remodel of its APC round, the APC round is (again, my experience) far superior to the HEAT-FS, not to mention, the cost is far less.
Playing M46/M48A with HEAT-FS i see that it have less post-pen dmg than anything even APDS/APCR as for some reason it just stops going through modules (like, Driver is killed and nothing else is damaged after him).
It even have lower chance of igniting ammo then APCR which is infuriating.
But as a go-to-pen round is good enough i suppose.
