Germany's 13 mm MG 131 SUCKS
It makes so sense how bad it is, please help me to understand. This MUST be a big flaw in the game if I'm not mistaken.

EDIT: Plus they sound like airsoft XD

Not answering to whether or not the physical bullets are represented the way they are supposed to be (I don't know, so i won't comment), BUT:

As I remember, the MG131 was supposed to mimic the MG151's trajectory, so you didn't have the classic problem of trying to hit with cannons OR hit with machine guns.

Case diameters of the MG131 were 13x64B (iirc).
Case diameters of the M2 were 12.7x99.

Bullet weight and velocity of MG131 was ~550 gr @ 750m/s.
Bullet weight and velocity of M2 was ~710 gr @ 900 m/s.

That .50 is moving like a freight train and it'll hit like one too. If the physical bullet HE component isn't modeled correctly, the MG131 isn't gonna compare to an M2.
Couldn't have said it better myself. The M2 was more of a kinetic energy weapon, the MG131 although still a machine gun, performed like small cannons, really small cannons.

Its just WT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The Mg 131 wasnt meant to rely on KE, as the US 50 cal doest, it was meant to realy on CE, just like the Breda-SAFAT and Ho-103 (these guns are peashooters in the game, but IRL they were heavy hitters). Axis HMGs have been poorly implemented since the very beginning.
The 13x64 round has a considerably shorter cartridge case than a soviet or US 50 cal (12.7x108 and 12.7x99, respectively), which gave it a far lower MV and KE than both of these rounds, but its quite hefty punch came from its HE rounds. The buggers carried 1.8g of explosives, which is good for this caliber. The Shvak, for example , has 2-3g (although it isnt the most powerful cannon, it gets the job done nicely), which isnt much more. The soviet Berezin UB also had HE rounds, but they werent as powerful (although its HE rounds were no joke, the UB's power came mostly from the AP-I ammo).
I played WT sim for 3 years, and whenever I ran out of cannon ammo and was down to the 131s, I would call it quits and RTB for more cannon ammo, as the 131s had a really bad damage output. For the last 5 months ive been playing Il-2 Great Battles, and in this far better game the 131 is a really nice weapon. You can actually trust them, and they are realiable agaisnt any fighter. Ive shot down many rugged planes, such as Thunderbolts, Tempests and even Sturmoviks with just the 131s, and it doesnt take many hits. With a good burst you will deal a lot of damage to almost any aircraft, and if you run out of cannon ammo, the 131s can do the job very well
