M163 Radar

Does not work! Active Lock will work only in Test Drive Mode.... Cannot get Radar to work and have checked all settings - 9 times,,, Have tried everything ...

the boggies should still appear on the radar and the target select should also work without looking through the sight - it's needs to be fixed.. no way was this the norm on a real life M163..

The radar helps the gunner in locating targets, not his eyes


If not then get ride of the radar and allow target lock to work - it's a faster engagement in a heated moment

Actually, it shouldn't show enemies on the map, since as far as I can tell it can only target one aircraft at a time, and even then it displays the indicator on the sight (which is how it works in-game technically). It might help the gunner detect enemies, but the gunner still needs to move it around since the radar only has a narrow search sector and is fixed in the direction of the gun.

Ik wikipedia isn't the best source for info, but I don't know many specifics about most vehicles so I use it often. If you have any sources that say otherwise, please do share them.

new radar only seems to get a lock on when still and not too close to buildings/trees/bushs.

so yes you are vulnerable a little bit, stay at back.

You can track, no lock on if they dodge.

They go behind cover, hills, trees, houses, ridges, you lose track and lock on.

Use your ears to tell at least which direction they are coming from.
And hope you don't have too many fire mg all time for no reason idiots around, can't hear crap over them.

Its like the have no idea sound can give position away............


jets, fast, hard to get a track or lock on at all, dodging jets, rare lock on, shoot with eye sight.

Non jets, not dodging, easy.
non jets dodging, lock on sometimes, but lock on happens on and off and the volume of fire these spaa put out, should still kill with eye sight.

heli, easy, I like these now, I saw my first dodging heli about 10 days ago, this is very rare, easy to kill if in range other wise.

keep eye on radar arks, not all are 360, won't see anything behind you.

Practice, till you figure it out it is REAL frustrating.

radar on, arks, track, lock on, look these up, change controls if it helps, i did.
ears and eyes, radar can not be relied on.
turn radar off, guess we will get some anti radar rockets in some update.

practice, these new radar spaa are a right pain now, not the easy kill of old....
i hate it and like it and if all fails, shoot without the radar and use your eyes.

But radar can have some really odd issue to lock on target, AMX-30 have similar issue to engage lock
