Tips & Tricks with the Tiger IIH Sla. 16!
Tip #1: Don't buy the tank to grind!

It's pretty common knowledge that German 6.7 is outclassed in every way, but to add insult to injury, German 6.7 is really 7.7!

Expect to play this tank ONLY out of love for the vehicle itself, not for any useful RP or SL gain.

Tip #2: Yes, the match maker really IS that bad for everyone.

Do not expect to get a single 6.7 match, unlike the T29 which frequently sees downtiers, the Tiger II does not. Either Gaijin does some secret "qualitative" matchmaking or it's a bad time of day to play; probably both!

Here is what to expect (my first 9 battles):

Battles
1. Tunisia, 7.7
2. Mozdok, return to hangar, 7.7
3. Sinai, 7.7
4. Eastern Europe, 7.7
5. Advance to the Rhine, 7.3
6. Mozdok, return to hangar, 7.7
7. American Desert, 6.7
8. Japan, return to hangar, 7.7
9. Battle of Hürtgen Forest, return to hangar, 7.7

Win / Loss ratio, 40%

Matches played, 5/9

Kill / Death ration, 7.0

Tip #3: Never shoot an American tank in the front!

The really great part about Gaijin's matchmaker is that your 1943 production tank gets the PRIVILEGE of facing American and British tanks from the mid-1950's and early 1960's, every match! Your saving grace is that sometimes you get paired with the Soviets, whose heavy tanks, UNLIKE YOURS, do in fact get downtiered!

For T34s and T29s, shoot the lower plate on the right hand side for an ammo detonation. For a T26E1, shoot either the lip above the mantlet or the unprotected corner of the turret between the armor "ear" and the mantlet.

For British tanks, shoot anywhere that it looks like you can pen, because let's be honest, British tanks weren't made for Warthunder!

For Soviet tanks, namely the IS6 and IS4M, which will be the main ones you see, shoot under the cannon barrel and off to the left a bit for a reliable shot trap.

Tip #4: You aren't a heavy!

Just don't get hit, trust me! I got shot ONCE in these nine battles by a 6.0 American medium and survived, but that's an exception!

Tip #5: REALLY, REALLY DO NOT buy this tank to grind!

It's not a heavy tank that you want to play, so if you do want a heavy tank, buy an IS6!

Honestly though, when is this going to get fixed?

It isn't good, that was the point of this long drawn out meme that I wrote while waiting for crew lock to end.

wdym the Tiger 2 is a very good tank and it can handle uptiers like a champ.

Well,... seems we might have a L2P issue here!

As evidenced by my final K/D of 7.0.

Because there is a massive difference in the effort required to get there between a T29, for instance, and a Tiger II.

Well, at least you aren't gonna say that the T29 is objectively superior to the Tiger II outright, instead of performing better due to a myriad other factors including matchmaking...

At least I hope so.

Of course, the T29 only handles like a medium, has an extra 20mm of turret armor, an extra 30mm of penetration (which is WAY MORE due to the much higher caliber cannon), and has 6 spread out crew. It's a 7.0 tank but it also costs money, so of course Gaijin puts it 0.3 lower than it ought to be until they feel they sold enough to crank up the BR (like the OAF-40 MTCA and premium Jumbo).

I don't have trouble dealing with them, they are driven by idiots. One shot to the lower plate or one under the mantlet is usually plenty, half the time they show you their side just for good measure.

On the other hand, they are massively better thanks to the matchmaker, consistent downtier vs. consistent uptiers, like you said.

And the Sla.16 handles even more like a medium thanks to a fantasy engine, has a much stronger hull, and a considerably faster reload. If we're being fair and comparing premium vs premium, the T29 and the Tiger 2 Sla.16 are, objectively, standing toe to toe.

Also, tell me a vehicle in this game that is NOT driven by idiots at times.
