I would like to know the very same question, I know that it does not have access to the BR412D (230mm Pen?), other than the lack of care from the devs side, what is the IS-6 like overall?

Strong armor against traditional rounds. Play it like a medium tank (not a heavy) thanks to its large powerful engine, but unreliable armor. It gets cracked by hesh easily unlike the IS-3 or other IS tanks. Heat-FS laughs at it too.

Gun is fastest reloading 122mm but that isn't saying much really. Its mantlet is a mean weakspot that sometimes bounces rounds, but if you get penned you're dead; no survivability most of the time, unless you're hit in the side.

Its fairly average imo, the IS-3 is probably the better tank; what you REALLY get from the IS-6 is mobility, which isn't saying much when you're in the same BR range as the leopards... but its unusual for a Russian heavy tank.

Hokay, so I am just better off sticking to IS-3 as my first spawn as a 7.3 tank, all I needed, thanks for an actual response that is related to topic. :soviet:

Annoying IS Tanks until someone shoots a APFSDS at it.

You don't want that shell at all, it's APCBC not the EXCLUSIVE Russian shell type APHEBC. APHEBC (the BR 471B shell) has the best angle performance by a long shot.

Yeah I own it and I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love using the IS6 in my 7.3 lineup it is a very very good tank and if you ever play SQB it is very meta. also lmao to the amount of people who go around thinking this company is hitler or some ♥♥♥♥ in this forum

If you play squadron battles it's a MUST HAVE.
Fanthomas Nov 4, 2019 @ 3:16am
Dont listen to the ''ooh dont give gaijin more money pls'', if you want it buy it. Its not what it used to be, but its still a great tank to grind the russian tech tree with

lol no. Just no.
IS-6 is better in every possible way but lack of D round. But this is not as much a problem since B round has much better pen against sloped armor.
Gun mantlet is 200mm thick (which is decent), it's tiny and easy coverable with your muzzle brake.
Mobility is day and night in comparison to IS-3.
In fact is-6 is similar to t-34 in this aspect
Reload rate is one of the best, apart from TDs

The IS-6 is a tank of 'two faces'. I call my IS-6 like this due to the fact it really depends on who are you playing against in a battle.

It can either survive multiple shots (often with no significant damage) and at the same time it just 'clicks and removes' enemy vehicles. Reload rate is quite long (15.8s in my case, which is quite manageable, but still long), reverse speed is good (you can take cover quickly, and you'll need to do that everytime). Mobility is actually very good for a heavie.

Or.. Or it meets enemies with HEATs and newer APFSDS shells, which means your IS-6 gets destroyed rather quickly.

I think it's overally a good machine for the half price, but as I said - it's a tank of two faces, so you'll either eat or get eaten.. Not so much in between.

How does your stats of IS-3 and IS-6 compare? Also are you more of a defensive or offensive player?

If you tend to survive against the T-29, T-30 and T-34 series tanks, then I might consider getting it. As those are the tanks I tend to face against majority of the time.

Just so you know, all those tanks you listed can easily pen an IS-6 turret front and under the mantle for a kill shot. The T-30's HE just needs to hit anywhere on the mantle for the explosion to go down and kill driver and more often than not, trigger an ammo rack.

On the upside tho, none of them can pen your hull from the front.

That is what I was hoping for, quick situations can lead to a rushed shot.

You can even be cheeky and bush up your turret to mess up aimed shots.
