Shooting Down Guided Missles

I have heard mixed things about this question, but is it possible to shoot a guided missiles that is coming at you?

I saw it in the patch notes (also works with bombs and rockets), but I have yet to see it happen.

I've seen people posting about doing that to ATGMs. They move pretty slowly, so if you're pointing the right way with MGs it might work.

It's probably technically possible with AAMs and SAMs, but I doubt you'd ever pull it off.

Hellfires and Vihkrs cannot be shot down but other missiles can.

i saw a video of helicopter missiles being shot down by SPAA to save a friendly tank, so definitely possible haha

Yes you can shoot down ATGMs with coaxial machine guns. I've personally done it twice now.

I personally have tortured bmp1s and 2s by shooting their missiles down on multiple ocasions. I also once had a bomb i dropped detonate imidiatly by a plane behind me, dont recommend that one. Lastly i have also shot down helicoptwr atgms. Its quite safe to say its doable, but you need a decent ammount of firepower in order to pull it off on a regular basis.

Shoot down a missile with your MG should give you 3x the rp and lions as a normal plane/tank kill.

But it depends on what you use as well. American vehicles for example can easilly destroy missiles as they have many machineguns on their tanks. Other nations will struggle far more. If you add a reward like that you will encourage us players to focis on killing missiles, as its far more rewarding.

Sry for hijack, but can any1 briefly tell if it is possible to shoot down incoming torpedos in WT NF, like with aux guns or AA ?

I don't think torpedos can be destroyed, but bombs definitely can be shot and destroyed by AA guns. I've noticed sometimes as a plane drops a bomb the AA fire will hit it destroying both the bomb and plane.
