Gepard ammunition
I'm new to using the Gepard and I was wondering which rounds are the best to use for ground targets and for air. I assume the DM23 rounds would be the best for ground targets but I'm not sure which to use for air.

default works a charm for air.

Default belt for air targets and the occasional enemy SPAA, Sabot belt as a secondary in case you have to shoot an enemy tank (or get offered the opportunity to catch someone in the side or back).

For any high or top tier SPAA (that actually has guns), I generally stick to default for air. It's free, usually has a 50/50 AP and HE belt, free, and often does more then enough damage in a burst to cripple or destroy an aircraft.

Just remember that your APDS belt will be limited to 60 (IIRC) rounds, so use them well.

I tend to use the incendiary round belt due to its ability to light tanks on fire and blow up there ammo during penetration. It also works against aircraft just fine. Sabot of course in case im up against something heavy.

Well you for some reason can only carry a measly 40 shots of the sabot rounds so thats all of 3-4 clicks or about 2 seconds of shooting. I was seriously disapointed when i finally spaded it and unlocked that belt.

Same here, is it normal that you can only have 40 shots of your second ammunition?
Doesnt matter which ammo i choose for main ammo (except default), i always have 40 rounds which is just nothing.....

Yes 40 rounds is correct. The allmighty secrit document Gajin uses state the Gepard had only 40 of them loaded. And it´s better balanced this way.
Yet every other AA, especialy russian, can carry seemingly endless amounts of antimater Rounds. Because reasons or so....

The Russians don't even get APDS on their radar SPAA... and their standard ammo has less pen than the German standard ammo. In fact Germany, along with Britain and Japan all have the same limitation, the only ones who have even better standard ammo but no APDS are America and Sweden. In fact, Russia has possibly the absolute worst 8.0 SPAA against ground targets, but muh Russian Bias
