"Custom Battles" button not showing up.

So my friend just started playing War Thunder with me, and to show him some tips and tricks I had the idea to create a custom battle where I'd teach him maneuvers and get him used to the planes, controls, etc.

Thing is, the Custon Battles button doesn't show up in his list of game modes.

I don't understand, for me this button has been here as far as I remember and aside from lots of "How to set up Custom Battles for your friends !" guides, I don't see anyone talking about it, so I'm hoping a little help will come from here ?

maybe he has to play the starter battles first to 'unlock' custom battles ?!

i mean there is a certain amount of newbie battles (against bots only ?! i dont know) before you get thrown into the 'real deal' (unless you squad up with another higher ranked player afaik). i dont know how many (maybe 10 ?!) or if there are any other triggers (like getting the first vehicle unlocked etc etc) but i guess he should just play a few live battles and see if the custom battles get unlocked after some time.

Makes sense, we'll try doing some battles in different modes to try and unlock it.
Shame though since I wanted to show him the basics in private battles before live ones so that he doesn't get destroyed by absolutely everyone.

the custom battles button is in battles in the top left corner and I hope we will meetup in a RB
